Re: Games That Made You Really Sad/Cry
I played the first one, but it creeped me out with the babies and weird shit. Unlike Resident Evil, Silent Hill definitely felt more "horror" then "action." That's a good thing, but not something I'm always in the mood for.McDirty wrote:It's definitely on my recommendation list, however I will admit, Silent Hill isn't for everyone. The original games are very psychologically/emotionally challenging. I know a lot of people who start but never finish the originals just because it's something that requires a lot of psychological/emotional effort to play. Unlike those westernized Silent Hill: Saw messes they're coming out with now.
Now that's a great one! In the US version, didn't they censor it? I played it on my SNES at launch, but don't remember it being as brutal...or maybe I was just too young to understand what was going on. Either way, definitely one of the best moments in FF. Aeris death doesn't even come close (for me) since FF6's scene required so much more maturity.McDirty wrote:When it comes to Final Fantasy, I personally felt FF6 was actually the most engaging. The opera scene is really quite amazing, considering this is 16-bit graphics and MIDI audio. And I also can't forget the famousSpoiler :

It's your own fault. If you had dinner on the table when he came home THAT WOULDN'T HAPPEN.

Back when it was released as FFIII in the states, it was censored quite a bit. A lot of the dialogue was taken out just simply it couldn't fit on the US ROMs. Character's names were also changed as well. Content too was taken out, which included (pix-elated) nudity and some violence. FFVI Advance for the GBA also is censored a lot with foul language, violence (notably against women), and nudity. The Playstation port found on FF Anthology is probably the closest to the japanese original out of all the US releases.dwchang wrote:In the US version, didn't they censor it? Re: Games That Made You Really Sad/Cry
back on subject...maybe
Fatal Frame 2 and Silent Hill 2 are a given. One I like but tends to make anyone sad is Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon. It's a pretty game for the Wii but, it's so damn depressing.
One that really affected me was Rule of Rose. For presonal reasons I tend to get really emotional when I'm playing this game.
Others I can think of on the top of my head:
Eternal Sonata
Tales of the Abyss
Shadow Of The Colossus
Kingdom Hearts 2 & Brith By Sleep
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3/3 FES
Final Fantasy 10
Fatal Frame 4/ Zero 4
I think that enough. Most of the time if I actually cry due to a game its tears of fustration than saddness.

What you classify as yelling amazes me. You've never played in a competitive gaming league. If the word "faggot" hasn't been used yet, people aren't mad. My level of anger usually reached "disappointed."
I AM DISAPPOINT

Persona 3 FES's ending was especially trying on me, although there is a scene from Valkyria Chronicles that just pushed me over the edge.
