We talking hard? Or hardcore, which could be classified as a rock genre.

Eh, two really hard songs I know:

"Witch Hunter" by Destryer 666
"Centipede" by Strapping Young Lad

manson, ozzy, rob zombie, mud vayne, muder dolls, shadows fall, korn, hatebreed, system of a down, stone sour, saliva, chevelle, drowning pool, unloco, slipknot, pantera, rammstien(if you can understand them or even if you cant)deftones, disturbed, pandora's box(dont know for sure if this is a band or not). they all at one point have there hardcore moments. the way i see it the hardcore genre varies from person to person. maybe you should list a band you think is hardcore and people could give you bands simalir to the one you listed.

I'd consider Cradle of Filth to be the mainstream idea of Black Metal. It's really not that bad at all. Hardcore? Maybe, but not terribly.

edit: not that bad = not really hardcore. CoF is a joke, in my book.

I concur. Cradle Of Filth is the Monty Python of the black metal music scene (hey, that fits, because they're British! I think...), in my opinion.

CoF has nothing on say, Dimmu Borgir, The Children Of Bodom, Satyricon, or numerous other Scandinavian black metal groups. Those groups focus more on the ROCK aspect of the scene. CoF just seems more focused on the gothic LOOK. I mean, what are their songs but dramatic audio clashes and creepy, high pitched vocals?

To summarize: Cradle Of Filth, while having one or two decent songs, falls into the "safe" category of creepy metal - something mostly for the suburban "goth" kids who feel the need to be part of an alternative scene to listen to and annoy their parents with.

I'd be almost insulted if you weren't such an angry hypocrite. At least I've listened to the trash you call music. I bet you havent even listened to Death (the band). Maybe you should have Linkin Park play in the background of your posts. You seep angst. Or don't you like them because their vocalist doesn't sound like hoobastank?
