The best thing to do is vote with your wallet and introduce those that listen to screechy screaming music to something better.
I'm a big Metallica fan. They have some beautiful songs. They don't have to scream and they have an excellent four part musical form.
If you have never heard them before
start with something lighter and pretty like Ecstacy of Gold from their album S&M (San Francisco Orchestra & Metallica), The Unforgiven from their self title album, or Fade to Black from the album Ride the Lightning. Turn the Page from the album Garage Inc. is good too, but less metal in sound.There is only one exception to the screechy vocal that I can think of right now.

Knockin' On Heaven's Door is one of the most beautiful songs to ever be performed.
Sad history though. Here is the short version. They got a call their friend died not to long before a show. They came out and played the song through tears as a dedication.
Well AC/DC too but they are more gruff than screechy. Plus they don't scream.
