I enjoy listening to the style...but I couldn't pick out favorite bands. I just pick and choose songs I like...
Though I do have a number of Less Than Jake, MFATGG, The Ramones...
I've also associated Reel Big Fish and LTJ with ska... Going down that road, I also like Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the Aquabats and Save Ferris.

Same goes for the metal scene, the only bands that are still holding the original metalbanner are the old bands that are still playing, and maybe with the addition of Fozzy. The bands that have played since the late 70s and the early 80s, or are playing music that goes back to those glory days, and have changed the least with the coming of the new streams are in my opinion very few. Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Hammerfall, Edguy, Slayer, Savatage, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Manowar and Monster Magnet.JOE_Greezy wrote:Punk is dead now, all the so called punk bands nowadays are pop or emo.
There have been a lot of great losses in the metal scene. A lot of great bands have split up/quit/had a member die. Great bands like Venom, Pantera, Black Sabbath.
And also we mourn the bands that have switched sides to the "new metal" or just run downhill fast because they can't live up to their glory days.

No, that's just one part of the metal scene, and it happens to be the part you like. You can ignore other metal in lieu of the "good ol' days," but that doesn't mean that there isn't a lot of good metal out there now. Metal is far from dead, but punk is very close. The appeal of punk spread too far and became too commercialized, and punk lost its spirit and was assimilated into the pop scene. Metal, however, has gone in two directions: commercial and very un-commercial.Undertow wrote:Same goes for the metal scene, the only bands that are still holding the original metalbanner are the old bands that are still playing, and maybe with the addition of Fozzy. No, metal is not what it used to be. But that doesn't mean it's dead; it's changed and expanded. That argument can't hold up for punk, because it hasn't expanded, it's become much more narrow to fit into the scope of pop music.
Not to start a debate ('cause it's already started), but I can't say Good Charlotte is punk with a straight face. They are pop, maybe pop-punk if such a thing can exist. They "rule" because they know what people like and will pay for.water_Demon_girl wrote:Kyarii wrote:I like Good Charlotte, but I don't know that they would be considered punk...
Yes Good Charlotte is consideres punk. That's why the band rules.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
