Re: The Vent Thread
Do u even lift?
1) exercise (needs to include all the things, a well rounded workout since it's pretty hard to just target one body part, abs for example)
2) eat lean protein (fish or chicken) in the ratio of 1.2g per lb of body weight you want to be at.
So, if you wanna put on 10lbs of muscle, (your current weight + 10lbs) * 1.2 = grams of protein you should eat daily.
(this is assuming you don't need to lose weight, that's sortof a different process, but it sounds like you're at a good place where you could start this)
I used to think this was kinda BS till I tried it.
Comes down to whatever works for you though.

Farm, can you explain what you mean by this? Weight seems to be a concern for everyone.FarmXD wrote:I'm in the middle of a women conversation...is it dangerous?
I'm almost 30.pan_dbgt01 wrote:I see what you mean. I am just under 5'4". The younger you are the better your metabolism should be so maybe you'll have to wait until you are older.

True. IMO, work-related exercise* is probably the most effective way to make sure it happens, but obviously that's not something I advocate nor think most people would actively seek out.ZephyrStar wrote:1) exercise (needs to include all the things, a well rounded workout since it's pretty hard to just target one body part, abs for example)
*in my case, it was pushing shopping carts around a parking lot for 6 hours a day 3 days a week in Senior year. I actually gained some weight after I started working there because I gained muscle, but it stabilized around 132lbs and after a couple months I was pretty toned. Reason is that pushing those carts around *does* work everything. The job was hell, though.
Of course, I quit working there 9 years ago. After getting my wisdom teeth out in 2006 the weight started packing on (a month eating nothing but coffee ice cream will do that). I'm currently 160, and would prefer getting back down to ~135. I've been thinking about setting myself up on a school-like schedule where every hour on the hour I go out back and run laps for 10 minutes, then go inside and cool off/rehydrate (this is also partly because my lung capacity is awful).

Re: The Vent Thread
I personally don't care about muscles, or at least muscle tone. My muscles can do the job for the most part, I mean, I routinely walk 10+ miles in a day, and even with my elbow messed up, I've never had problems with lifting tasks around the house (like rearranging my whole room), and I do all of my shopping by carrying stuff 1.5 miles from the store on foot. I started cycling like crazy too. I've never had any nice muscle tone in my life though, and I could probably stand to lose a bit more weight (though my BMI is usually somewhere on the lower end of "normal and healthy" for someone my height, my lack of muscle bulk means that I look quite a bit "softer" than most people with that BMI). My bone structure was never in my favour either - I have a massive rib cage, but relatively sloping shoulders and long but mostly unimpressive arms/legs. I also have really "girly" hands and long but narrow feet as a result. I also know that my bones are not as strong as most guys my age, either, which is why I break them so easily. So I've not been gifted with the "I work out!" look, even when I worked out almost daily.
I know it's healthy to work the muscles, but I also wish people around me stopped pestering me about trying to get nice arms/shoulders/stomach/whatever. Sorry guys, still don't give a poop D:

Re: The Vent Thread
I keep thinking of things that make me really upset and I don't understand why, they just keep popping into my head and it's so damn annoying because when I remember I keep thinking, 'hey I promised him no matter what I would be happy' and I do have happy memories, but it has been over a year now and it still hurts like hell when I do think about it. I can't even finish the dedication video I've been working on for months now because I just keep getting sad when I open the project.
I just want the heavy feeling to go away because sometimes it's just too much.
I really hate how emotional I can be sometimes.

Re: The Vent Thread
For me at least, it gets easier over time. Don't worry about the video, you'll work on it when you can. It wont be any less special because you took a little bit longer to finish it.Chiiisus wrote:I just want the heavy feeling to go away because sometimes it's just too much.
