Thanks you guys, I'm usually not a big fan of my hair when I cut it short, but this one seems to be working out really well. I think perhaps because I always choose styles that are short and straight, rather than short and wavy. So my hair never did what I pictured.
This pic was after washing and blow-drying it, I don't do any styling, and it just falls into these waves. It's strange because (as I'm sure you remember) my hair is super straight when it's long, and I don't do any styling then, either. Yeah, I noticed mine does that too. I have some layers in it right now though, so while it's getting pretty long it still curls nicely.

My hair's the opposite, it's mostly straight and very manageable when it's short, but the longer it gets, the more wavy it goes. I wouldn't mind it if that didn't end up so stupidly high-maintenance .__.

Actually there's a pretty good chance of that happening again in a couple of months :3
And the hair is going to have to go either way since the maintenance involved is getting ridiculous. Washing and drying it properly is now a 1.5 hour operation.
