Now here's a normal, healthy person with normal, healthy music tastes. Is that the response we've been expecting since the start of the thread? And does that prove that, perhaps, we're not all counterculture freaks as we may have thought?

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Well, we can't all be rogues on the fringes of society, shaking our fists in defiance of The Man. Someone's gotta keep conformist music in business I guess....

I don't know if Evil Urchin will agree with me, but I'd say definitely The Power To Believe, their latest album. It's extremely up-to-date modern, stunningly well-palyed and coherent. The rhythm section rocks like an absolute beast in this one. Get it, don't even think. It's the definitive Crimson of the 21st century.
I'm a huge fan of their latest works, and I have to say this one is definitely their best studio release since 1981, maybe (to me) even since 1974.

I'll list mine because I know most people here haven't heard of 'em. Oh, and by the way, you guys aren't the only Crimson fans around here. I just prefer the heavier progressive music, rather than rock.
On to my list... (in no particular order)
Symphony X
Dream Theater
Hourglass
Blind Guardian
Kamelot
Adagio
Evergrey
Nightwish
Liquid Tension Experiment
And solo guitarists, because they're a little different...
Robert Fripp
David Sylvian
Jason Becker
Mattias Ia Eklundh
Michael Romeo
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
Yngwie Malmsteen (though I hate the guy, his music is amazing)
John Petrucci
They don't all do just solo stuff, but that's the stuff I'm referring to.

I will wholeheartedly agree with your entire guitarist list, especially Robert Fripp and a few of the others. Veritable gods among men.

Gods among men, indeed.Evil Urchin wrote:I will wholeheartedly agree with your entire guitarist list, especially Robert Fripp and a few of the others. Veritable gods among men.
That seems a little harsh, doesn't it? It's not like I can check out every single guitarist known to man. And if you know who those guitarists are, you'd know what their style/genre is and see the connection. Since I haven't even heard of two those guys, which is rare if they play a similar style, then I might not enjoy their music that much even though I'd likely be able to appreciate the talent I'm sure they have seeing as how I've respected most of the artists/bands I've seen you naming and recognized them as musicians rather than entertainers. So... I'll check out those guys as soon as I can, and in the meantime you can check out the guitarists on my list.Tom the Fish wrote:I can take no guitarist list seriously that doesn't list Nick Saloman, Wayne Rogers or Michio Kurihara.
