Meh.

Come one people; I never said I hated them, and neither did most other reasonable posters here.

But eh - when push comes to shove, I'm still an elitist

A good-natured elitist, but an elitist nonetheless. You can't make the likes of me accept that LP is awesome. They're mostly-tolerable sonically and suit their purpose well (read: angsty, power-chord-slamming brand of pop with a few rap sensibilities mixed in). I'm ambivolent to LP fans who say they like them because they're accessible/relateable/fun; I'm hostile to fans who say that OMG LP IS BEST (as in, most talented/innovative) BAND IN WORLD. That's an insult to any elitist

I hate them and they deserve all the flakk they get. Maybe if they tried to play their instruments and actually tried to become a reputable and talented band, then no one would be hating them. Though their current fans probably wouldn't even know they exist. And that, Kai Stromler, is why I'm sad for 21st century music.

Well, let's be reasonable.

I'm just curious as to what it is that people see Linkin Park being able to provide better than a wallop of other bands...

I mean, a metalhead will agree that any respectable aggro band can provide immeasurably more energy and drive; a sappy poetic type will concede that lyric-wise, they aren't masters of songcraft, either; while a proggie will testify that they're no more intricate or instrumentally apt than... well, let's not go into comparisons here.

Musically, this isn't a band that deserves the accolades it seems to be getting from all these over-excited people

Thus, unless I'm proven wrong, I'll assume that this band is liked primarily for offering up great opportunities to fetishize the inherent and delineated meanings of music, and leave it at that

no way, Mike is so much hotter than Chester. Although the drummer from Rammstein is cuter than both of them.

hmmm, which one's the drumer ? but anyway, chester looks kinda crap in some of LP's music vids, but check out the one step closer vid, he is like totoaly hot as hell in it. also, he looks realy cute outside of any sort of performance (*hint* the making of meteora, dvd that came with special edition of meteora album. he looks soooooooo cute in it)
