"Parade of the Athletes" is a good introduction to Tiesto. It's the music that played during the opening ceremonies of the Athens Olympics. Some of the tracks are new, some are from his previous CDs. All of them are his own compositions and remixes (i.e. it's not a mix of other people's work).
There are some Trance Nation 2-CD sets that are good: "Deeper", "Harder" (?), and a third one I can't recall the title of. The CDs from re:Vive Records are good, too.
As for alternatives to Enya, some of the Celtic music makers might work. Not really rock, though - of course, Enya isn't doing "rock" either even though the stores stock her CDs that way.
The Chieftains have been doing Celtic since forever. Clannad is several of Enya's relatives, and I hear she performed with them at one time. Loreena McKennit is a Canadian who works in this style. David Arkenstone has a few Celtic compilations out although his style is broader than that, more cinematic.

If you want enya-ish music, Gregorian Brothers albums are good. Oh and, The best is yet to come (Theme for Metal Gear Solid) is simply the most beautiful (in terms of music) songs I've ever heard.
Sucks that you didnt enjoy little birdie's album that much. But it took me a few days to realy like it too. Its a bit different from most other rock out their, so it takes some geting used to. But once you are you'l love it. Track 6 is a personal fave.
How is DJ Tiesto's album? Whats the general mood of it? Like I said before, if you want trance with a happier side, get No Silence by ATB. He's sensetive, talented, german and sexy . The perfect man?

Listening to David Arkenstone is like putting on sweatpants and a fanny pack before going to the mall. You might as well give up and stay home. Have some ice cream and watch makeover TV reality shows.TaranT wrote:David Arkenstone has a few Celtic compilations out although his style is broader than that, more cinematic.
I hope that makes sense. Obviously I don't like Arkenstone or any of that new age stuff. I know it's musical and lovely and everything, but it's so phony.

I'm already too lazy to read through this thread to see if they got a mention, but check out Apoptygma Berserk. Kind of a anthem trance/house feel to the techno with a decent enough lead singer (yeah, I was confused too...techno with a lead singer....).
Life's short.
