Ramones were 70s punk, actually, predating a fair shake of the British punk "movement" as well as the more repetitious parts of the American one. But agreed on Slayer, they're legit.
What about later Metallica, Load/Reload and such? Is that still accepted by the metal crowds? I know they all but invented thrash metal, but some of their more recent stuff is kinda... well, not so thrash, to put it nicely.

*and for the record I hate the word poser and only used it to further shoot down the "bolt of intelligence" I in no way condone the use of that word and apologize for using it because that would make me a hyporite*
Having a diverse taste in music is good for ya, it makes you less of an asshole to everyone elses music. I can listen to anything minus screamo and country. I do enjoy the occasional slipknot song Im not theyre biggest fan or anything and they sure arent my fav band. But Im not a metal poser for liking some slipknot anymore then you are for liking the ramones. I also like Staind, not metal, but I really like his voice with the acoustics. It doesnt mean that I am "posing" to like metal, I like mainly metal, and other things.

I can't believe you actually call yourself a metal fan. Will you please just call it "rock" and shut the hell up? Nothing you listen to is metal, just face it. That 80s hair "metal" you love so much? Yeah, that's rock. Get over it. You are not metal, and you never will be.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

You seem to be confusing Metallica with Motorhead, the real pioneers of thrash metal.Unpronounceable_Symbol wrote:Ramones were 70s punk, actually, predating a fair shake of the British punk "movement" as well as the more repetitious parts of the American one. But agreed on Slayer, they're legit.

Some recent bands that I have discovered.
Farmakon Finlands jazzy answer to Opeth
Communic, think Nevermore meets Porcupine Tree.
Also, the recent releases from opeth, Porcupine Tree, Nevermore, Strapping Young Lad, Arcturus, Sigh, Ulver, Nile and Clutch are all HIGHLY recommended.

yes the black dahlia murder is an extremely good band whose talents have been overlooked for quite some time nowJOE_Greezy wrote:Finally other people who have heard of the black dahlia murder.
