Well, to be fair, overclocking isn't supposed to be used to fix an issue. The only real reason anyone should overclock is to get more performance out of a perfectly working computer, not fix an obviously not working correctly one.

I was always under the impression that overclocking could be used to speed up most computers, so thank you for explaining that for me.

I do have an old 8gb drive laying around....wonder what the chances are that I could change out some resistors in front of the controller chip on the board?

Gotta worry about rotation speed, seek speed, and the fact that the arm was designed to not scratch the surface only at the speeds it was designed to operate at.
