Not mine either, actually. I just thought I'd ask, seeing that the lead singer/bassist is my cousin.

This topic is going great. it's now one of the most popular. I thank every one who post an answer, but there's still two more weeks left before I start a new poll. One more thing, two more christian bands are going mainstream with in less then three months. Skillet and my favorite, PILLAR! Skillet will re-releasing their album "Collide" with a new song and pillar will releasing their new album "Where Do We Go From Here" on june 15. How do I know that's the name of pillar's album? Let's just say I'm a member of the Underground Army(Pillar's Street-Team).

Coming in may - Tuffle Planet - A Dragonball GT video featuring "Were the Sun Never Dies" by Blindside and a preview of "By Hellsing" after the video.

The only good thing ever to come out of religion was the music. - George Carlin
I gotta agree. Anyway, let me get my country plug:

I Love You This Much - Music Video : Music + video stream
http://www.jimmywayne.com/
  • He can't remember the times that he thought
    Does my daddy love me?
    Probably not
But that didn't stop him from wishing that he did
Didn't keep from wanting or worshiping him

He guesses he saw him about once a year
He could still feel the way he felt
    Standing in tears
Stretching his arms out as far as they'd go
Whispering daddy, I want you to know

    Chorus
I love you this much and I'm waiting on you
To make up your mind, do you love me to?
    However long it takes
    I'm never giving up
No matter what, I love you this much

He grew to hate him for what he had done
'Cause what kind of a father, could do that to his son
He said 'damn you daddy', the day that he died
The man didn't blink, but the little boy cried

    Chorus

    Half way through the service
While the choir sang a hymn
He looked up above the preacher
And he sadly stared at Him

    He said "Forgive me father"
    When he realized
That he hadn't been unloved or alone all his life
His arms were stretched out as far as they'd go
Nailed to the cross, for the whole world to know

    Chorus
Only the last minute or so included Christainity-references, regardless, it was an excellent reference.
GeneshaSeal - Dead Seals for Free
Orgasm - It's a Science

Atomic Opera is a great band that's Christian.
I don't know if you'd really call them Christian (they've been labeled in the past), but you could throw in King's X and Galactic Cowboys. All three bands are friends with each other and are based out of Texas. Too bad G.C. broke up.

'I want a Virgin Mary nightlamp
Bible hero lunch box
The Shroud of Turin on my wristwatch
Only listen to Christian.... Rock.'
Atomic Opera - "Jesus Junk"

I got what I guess is the first single from this release (may be off an older CD, didn't check) this morning with my daily newspaper (WalMart promo CD), called "Bring Me Down", and it wasn't half bad. Too much of a stereotypical radio feel for me to really get into, but it did crush the hell out of the Revise and Smile Empty Soul songs included on the disc.

The first riff was extremely promising, but about halfway in, the song just started to fall apart. The arrangement was really lacking, and the production really messed up the mid-range but good. At some points it sounded like seven guitars missing the same chord seven different ways, which is seldom a good thing.

Overall, the feel was of a young but decent band who got royally screwed over by an inept producer who had no idea of what their live sound was like, or how to bring that onto record. They need to work more on arrangement and putting songs together, and they desperately need to hire someone like Andy Sneap -- or indeed anyone who knows how to record heavy music -- to produce their next record.

Even with such a small, messed-up sample, it's easy to see that this band has potential; if, though, this is representative of the new CD and it sells like hotcakes because the musicians are Christians, they may have a tough time convincing their label to let them reach that potential. The business is all about bottom line and return on investment; if something external like good looks or a certain set of beliefs will make up for a rushed, poorly done production, the label will go for the stuff they can get for free and ignore the stuff like more studio writing time and a proper producer that they have to pay for.

Hopefully, it'll either sell medium-well and they'll be able to bring up the bad production in discussing the studio budget for the next record, or well enough that they can finance their own studio time on the next one and get it to sound right. If it's from an earlier release, here's hoping that a major-label prod budget has already fixed all of these problems.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.
CHOPWORK - abominations of maceration
skywide, armspread : forward, upward

Your right, "Bring Me Down" is the first single from the album. But the album verson is going to sound better then on the WalMart cd. It will be on the mainstram rock stations sometime in April.

I like P.O.D., Switchfoot, Newsboys, Zoe Girl, Kirk Franklin, and a little TobyMac. Hey, my first post! Oh, BTW. . .

I used to be into Christian music a lot, but then I just kind of lost interest. The industry itself is a lot more bigoted than a lot of the secular music industry. However that doesn't mean that there still aren't great bands out there who sing about their faith. I'm still a long-time fan of Five Iron Frenzy (who unfortunately broke up late last year :\..). They're such a fun, smart, witty, and talented band. Good stuff :)
Five Iron is stupid and you are if you like them also. Too.
