A number of anime distributors are going straight to mini-box sets (i.e. "seasons") right away instead of doing single disc releases. The implication of this is that they won't release actual complete single box sets for several years if at all since they're already giving you a box set option. I can't fathom why something so short wouldn't have been released this way... It looks like it's going to be 4 separate discs for each season. I'd definitely vote with my wallet on this one.pan_dbgt01 wrote:Also, why didn't you wait for the complete series to be released and get ita ll at once?

I just think buying seperate discs for 13 episodes is nuts! They are also pretty expensive.BasharOfTheAges wrote:A number of anime distributors are going straight to mini-box sets (i.e. "seasons") right away instead of doing single disc releases. I'm buying the DBZ Kai discs, but at least they have 13 eps each.

Also, I don't recall ever seeing Bandai do this, especially for Blu-ray. Then again, I've not really looked at their release trends very hard either.BasharOfTheAges wrote:A number of anime distributors are going straight to mini-box sets (i.e. "seasons") right away instead of doing single disc releases. I haven't bought a lot of Bandai recently. I did buy the Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop box sets though.Qyot27 wrote:Also, I don't recall ever seeing Bandai do this, especially for Blu-ray. A lot of the times, what we buy depends on what the quality looks like. For example, we refuse to buy ANY of the funimation dvd boxsets...cramming way too many episodes onto a single disk destroys the quality, so we usually opt for the singles.
Lately though, we've been reading up on bluray reviews and swapping out DVDs for bluray which are reeaaally hard to mess up :3 And it's really easy to find the blurays for super cheap ;p We actually managed to get the first part of Yu Yu Hakusho for $1.88 at Bestbuy

Gee, I'd sure hope you could manage to buy box sets of stuff that came out in the mid 90s...pan_dbgt01 wrote:I haven't bought a lot of Bandai recently. I did buy the Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop box sets though.

Re: Vent Thread
I was supposed to have this super dramatic confrontational showdown at work where I knew I was going to win.
Too bad nobody showed up and for some reason I can't help but laugh.
But when it happens, I'm going to win.
