you just described radiohead right there, most of thier lyrics are just random things that sound nice, and cause people to think there is more meaning than there is, thom admited to it himself at the release of the last CDflint_the_dwarf wrote:Pft. No, the only meaning that is there is because *we* put it there. It's really obscure, so people like to say it's artistic and metaphorical and all that stupid shit. But really people just add stuff because they aren't sure what it means but they like to seem intelligent so they add their own meaning and that meaning takes credit because other people flock in their own ignorance.HeavyMetal wrote:I would think it difficult to write while on drugs.
Take the song Lithium. There is a ton of meaning in the lyrics.
At least if you know what lithium is used for.
That is the core of pop culture.

Yes we are truly our greatest critics.
I don't find them too bent on a quest for money. I mean how much money can you really want.....unless you are KISS?
Money is hollow without purpose. I think many of their songs show that it is about music and self rather than cold cash. For example The Unforgiven, My Friend of Misery, and more recently the song St. Anger. The album Load is basically a just say no to drugs theme.
(Though I admit St. Anger is certainly not my favorite album.)
Metallica songs are long by nature as they typically come in four movements.
Its what made them famous in the first place....Master of Puppets. (play loud, play fast, play long)
