I mean Nas' "I Can," Wu Tang Clan's "CREAM," Eric B. and Rakim's "Microphone Fiend" and "Paid in Full," K-OS' "Superstarr pt. Zero," anything by KRS-ONE (whose name means Knoledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone), or Public Enemy, or even 3rd Base and the Beastie boys (who can play instruments, btw). Listen to the real shit and don't judge hip hop by the nasty ass outer coating.
crude but good point. For instance, 50 cent is quantity while black eyed peas is quality. Also another good one to add to that list, two actually is: Tupac - Brenda's got a baby and The Genius/Gza - B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) life is a test may we quest the universe
and through my research, i felt the joy and the hurt
the first shall be last and the last shall be first...

But Kracus, Rap doesn't teake a lot of skill, AT ALL. There's probably a kid in every high school that can do just as good as Eminem or 50 Cent, because it's all they do all day is rap to themselves.

So ok, it doesn't take a lot to do, but they're still expressing themselves /end sarcasm

if you read the stuff I typed, Rappers arn't even writing this shit, they're snot responcable for ANYTHING. They get paid by majoring clothing companies and such to use their lyrics that promote their products, then they have a professional song writer write actual MUSIC to rap to. Most people don't even like rap, just the music these rappers rap to, and almost none of them write their own music. Just like brittney Spears.
Brittney Spears Fan wrote: This new Brittney song has such a tottaly rad cool beat to it I can dance too!!!
Hor does that make HER skilled? She doesn't write her actual music, and not many rappers do either.

So just what are they expressing Kracus? They don't have a hand in creating any of their music :?

Im sure that people who like rap might say the same thing about Rock "music for angry kids". everybody has different tastes depending of their ethnic backgrounds or maybe the type of culture the person grew up. Maybe somebody might say that rap doesnt take that much skill well its a form of art and expression and i think it deserves some respect like Rock, Techno and any other music.

well, like I've also said, some fans don't care that the artist isn't credible. Like most rap fans, they just enjoy the music.

It's fine by me, but just don't go around syaing how skilled these people are.

Some people are skilled, some people aren't. Some people are in it solely for the material factor, some people aren't. Some people do write their own stuff, some people don't. Some people are in it to sell an image, some people are in it because they love music and what they do. Some people are crappy and never deserve to see the light of day, much less find themselves on a radiowave; Some people are more than deserving of getting record deals, and radio time, but they don't.

It's just circumstance, it's just the way it is.
And it applies to every form of music out there, be it rap, rock, techno, classical, jazz, punk, metal, country, electronica, pop, opera, soul, r&b, latin, and anything and everything in between.

People will listen to what they want, for whatever reason they want, be it 'good' or 'bad' (I put quotes around those because they're subjective terms, what's a good reason for one person may not be for another).
Just because some people are out there selling shoes, or clothes, or perfume, a look, or a soda or something, and some people are listening because they like what the person's selling, doesn't mean that an entire genre of music is defunct.

At the very least, people need to stop making blanket generalizations about genres of music. Mostly for the simple fact that just because you don't like a certain form of music, doesn't neccesitate that something is wrong with it.

*Note: I wasn't pointing a finger at you specifically Jace. You just brought up a point that set me on my train of thought.*
Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

...

i really don't feel like reading this whole thread ... i don't know what you guys are talking aobut but if your still in a skrimish yelling "rap sucks", "Fuck you" and the like back and forth then this won't be off topic, if it is sorry, jsut excuse it as the ranting of a crazy shit disturber.

You like rap? Great, good for you. El_Farlo you don't liek rap? me neiter, but don't go and get all high and mighty about it. Belive me there's lots of Rock bands who barely know how to hold an instrument let alone actualy play one, exspecialy now where were being hit by a plethora of shity bands.

Who really cares what kind of music you like or don't like. It's not really a valid reason to single people out and taunt/mock others. We have enough dividing factors to make us turn against each other ... lets try not to make music one of them ... even though it's already been done, over and over again. Somone slap me if this isn't making sense to you guys, or if it's out of context with the current dirrection of the thread.

and Fire, what I said is true to like 90%+ of the Rap industry, I think that's enough to generalize. Only a few rappers I know of do their own stuff, and it may not even be rap, I think it's hip hop.
