I know what you mean about small bands becoming big and everyone only acknowledges what is popular and yeah, too bad to those that don't delve deeper into their favorite artists.

For me, when I find a band that I really like, I go and get all their albums. For two of my favorite bands System of a Down, and Orgy, I came across these bands when their second albums had just come out. I liked them so much that I tracked down the first albums and was glad I did. Some bands have a greater creative spark when they are trying to be noticed, so their eariler work is sometimes better.

Also, you should just get the music that you like. It bugs me when people get obscure bands just to show off they have bands that nobody knows about.

Furthermore, many bands are starting out in high school so only the locals would know about them. So there are always new bands. Have you ever heard of a band called Thickwit?

One last note, does anybody else out there like Orgy?
For some reason I feel like I'm the only one (besides...Yuppa? I think it was..) who likes Orgy.

I look into bands as soon as I hear about them, and since I work in the media (dear god no, NOT MTV and such) I hear about bands as soon as they are.

I download a couple of the bands song soff their MP# site, determine if they're good enough to go see live or not, see them live, buy their EP when it comes out, and then wait eagerly for their first full length album.

I'm really into Story of The Year right now. They are so amazing, their full length comes out September 16th and I can't wait.

I hear about bands by just reading on message boards like this and from friends and stuff and then I get curious about them so I decide to listen to a few songs by each band which I download from Kazaa and if I like the songs I hear by any band that I just recently heard about, I'll then take sometime and do some research on them.

Story of the Year kicks ass by the way Jace: just felt like adding that.

Forgot to add this in last post: I've been listening to some bands like Opeth, Lacuna Coil, In Flames, Poison The Well, Yellowcard, Story of the Year, Arch Enemy, Gob, The Lawrence Arms and all of them seem quite good so far(well... to me anyway.)

Yeah I know theres some metal bands, hardcore and punk bands in their but I'm pretty open-minded towards music and I'm not all that picky.

Well, here's a band for you.

Fall Out Boy

This band doesn't get a lot of promotion, all they have is word of mouth, and it does them justice. Juust got back from a show of theirs and not only was it full on a night that it should have been dead, but they kicked some major ass.

I recomend the song "Saturday" to start off with.

Isn't this completely pointless. Its like saying I like to listen to country only when the artist does it kinda pop-y. I do like a variety of music, eg: Punk, Ska, Techno, Dance, Industrial Metal, Jazz, JRock and Jpop, and Orchestral Scores.
