Unoriginality doesn't mitigate the offense. Someone should clock the bastard, maybe he just wants to be able to brag for the rest of his life that he was hit with a pun.

Any word not related to hate crime would work better. "Rake" would just have the added advantage of some entertainment value.

....Though any hate crime words would probably get the accessory banned, which would in fact also work better from my perspective.

"Rape" also means theft (at least archaically), I guess I should have just stolen the damn thing.

We have a ton of videos that were saved in Quicktime, but need to be burned to DVD. Avid does this just fine, but my boss is using that particular computer a lot and I can't hog it all day. So he hands me the card and I go pickup a copy of Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate 15. It specifically says it imports damn near everything INCLUDING .mov files. After I install, I go to import the first video. No audio whatsoever. Plays just fine in QT, not in Pinnacle. So I go back to the DVD master intending to cut out the parts I need. The import manager says the whole title is about 01:15:00 (of which i need maybe 30 minutes)...so far so good. Once imported, it tries to say the entire thing is 00:01:22 ..... After some googling, I realize this is NOT an uncommon issue, but it seems there are 20 diff workarounds and none of them seem to actually WORK. And to top it all off, to contact support you need an "Avid Support Code", which costs $10 and is good for ONE SINGLE CALL. That's on top of charging for the damn manual.

So to make a long story short, I dropped $100 on a program that doesn't work, and they want MORE money to even talk to me about the problem.

Avid, you twats have just made my future purchasing decisions that much easier. Fsck you very much.

In addition to the Avid issues, I bricked my phone. Supposedly it's only a "soft-brick", but 3 button recovery has never worked, and neither has the 301k resistor trick...

Sony's practices with BD are absolutely draconian. I mean, I already knew this before, but I also just spent most of last night trying to get a goddamn BD disc to play in Media Player Home Cinema. Yes, I know I can rip a BD and watch it without a problem, yes, I know the disc cryptography prevents the video stream from being used on "non-approved hardware," but for fuck's sake, I bought the drive, I bought the discs, I should be able to pop disc in drive and hit play.

I ended up cobbling together a bunch of various codecs and filters from other programs that actually PAID Sony's hella-expensive licensing fees to have their software be able to play blu-ray. I'm quite happy with myself as I have now written a batch file that will copy and register the needed files so MPCHC can make use of them. In addition to this I found a nice little free program that strips AACS and region coding so the disc is accessible to any program that has access to the proper decoders. And I wasted my night being pissed about it :|

On the plus side Angel Beats looks and sounds amazing, as does Disappearance of Haruhi.

Just had a talk with my new supervisor that work in my new dept may dwindle down a bit. I'm literally so fast and efficient, that they can't seem to give me more stuff to do. I'm ok for now, but that's never a good sign. I know a few more departments I can work for, but I feel like I'm gonna be a leeching dept hopper.

My original dept was canned last month and I feel like I just got rescued for a bit only to eventually get thrown out again. Apparently, I'm just so awesome that I may work myself out of a job. :x

I already have an eye on another dept I'd like to settle in because I know there's a ton of work and I'm cool with the people there, but if it doesn't work out, I might as well move onto my plan B and let this all go.

:|

EDIT: Got canned for good today on short notice. This fucking blows. :x :x :x
