I know it sounds odd, but it's the first song I ever learned, and is the earliest song I remember as a child. It's also been the funeral song for a lot of men in my family. It's also one of the few country songs that really touches my heart.

I should give these songs a listen in my spare time, and since we're sharing the reasons I guess I should to.

Throughout my life and I can say the same for anyone my age, I've lost many friends and family members who left permanent marks on my life. After they departed I felt parts of me going along with them but something else in place of them. This song details the artists' departed friends and family members who meant a lot to them and this song is extremely fitting in everything to describe how precious loved ones can be, even though their lyrics were personal anyone can relate and the instruments truly made the song more emotional.

If I was given the chance, put this on blast with my wife (hopefully current GF), kids, mother, stepfather, biological father, brothers, sisters, grandmother if she's still alive, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends (online friends too if possible) all around me. Let them know that even though you'll never see me again in this life, I'll see you in the next where we can live eternally.

Did you ever imagine the last thing you'd hear as you're fading out was a song?

I mean come on, wouldn't that be awesome? And given the length/range of this song, I'd certainly not object - it covers a lot of what I love about music in its 13-minute run.

Aside from that, I've always pointed to Robert Fripp's soundscapes as "music I would like to die to". No point in trying to pin down "songs" in that type of music, but possibly something from November Suite would be the narrower choice there.
