Personally Meaningful Songs
Anyone got PMS? Hehe, and by that I mean Personally Meaningful Songs. If so, I'm just curious what they are. I'll start.
Bluer Than Midnight by The The (off the Dusk album)
-----
Save me, Save me, Save me.
Save me, Save me, Save me.
The candles are lit. The curtains are drawn.
There's still no sign of rain nor dawn.
Our lips touch. Our limbs entwine.
But the ghosts that haunt me won't leave my mind.
Save me, Save me, Save me
Save me, Save me, from myself.
One sin leads to another one.
Oh, the harder I try
I can never, never, never find peace in this life.
I ask myself where does lust come from
Is it something to yield to or be overcome?
I ask myself
Why love can never touch my heart like fear does?
Why can't love ever touch my heart like fear does?

First off, 8) to that sig quote. Even if it's accidental, TMBG r00lz #1 d0000d!!!!!!!1
Okay, these songs are legion... I used to make "diary" mix tapes when I was in high school, with things like this.
Presently, as mentioned in the favorites thread, "Do Your Best and Don't Worry" by Morrissey:
Compare the best of their days
With the worst of your days
You won't win
With your standards so high and your spirits so low
At least remember:
This is you on a bad day, you on a pale day
Just do your best and don't worry, oh
The way you hang yourself is oh, so unfair...
*sigh!*
Also by Moz, "Disappointed" - which is more of a scattershot song, so it's hard to pull out just one relevant line. It's upbeat-ly pessimistic, if such a thing can be imagined, with a sort of sarcastic sense of humor that I relate to. ("Young girl, one day you will be old... but the thing is, I love you now.")
U2's "Walk On" was very soothing to me during a chaotic time in my life, early this year. So that, too.
Gladys Knight and the Pips' "Midnight Train to Georgia". Because I had something like this happen to me, except I didn't go. :/ I'd heard it before, but re-hearing it recently I realized what a sweet song it really is.
REM, "Why Not Smile". Pretty clear, there. Though to me it recalls the idea of an idealized friendship, something very calming to think about sometimes. Great tune.
The Smiths, "Bigmouth Strikes Again", which has been my evil theme song ever since I first heard it - and would have been earlier, if I'd heard of it earlier. (Placebo did a decent although less vicious cover of it, if you're allergic to anything made before 1990. ;P) It's basically the theme song of self-deprecation.
Anyhow, it goes on and on and on. Which is what's great about music, I think, how everyone relates to it differently.

"Crazy Maze" by Des'ree.
Money don't make my world go round
I'm reaching out for the higher ground
To a warm and peaceful place
I can rest my weary face
Life's answers, we try to find
Battling inside our minds
Where do I go from here?
Will all my friends be there?
Cause we're living, we're living, in a crazy maze
And we're fighting, we're fighting, to rise above the haze
Light's at the end of the tunnel, sometimes the journey's long
There are many theories, who's right and who's wrong?
The pressure's on, I have to choose
I've got nothing to lose
I close my eyes and I take a chance
Now I dance a different dance
What's the key to a happy life?
A healthy mind and lots of spice
Running barefoot through the trees
That's my idea of free
Cause we're living, we're living, in a crazy maze
And we're fighting, we're fighting, to rise above the haze
Light's at the end of the tunnel, sometimes the journey's long
There are many theories, who's right and who's wrong?
I pack my bags and I'm on my way
I don't know where I'm gonna stay
I'm on a train bound destiny
I can set my spirit free
Cause we're living, we're living, in a crazy maze
And we're fighting, we're fighting, to rise above the haze
Light's at the end of the tunnel, sometimes the journey's long
There are many theories, who's right and who's wrong?
Cause we're living, yes we're living
We're dying yes, we're dying
The journey may be long
Who's to know?
When you have got to rule, you have got to go
(fadeout)

Hmm... so many.
"Sunday Bloody Sunday" - U2 : Really got me interested in different music. Also the first song that made me care.
I can't believe the news today
I can't close my eyes and make it go away
That song really changed my outlook on the world.
"My Friend of Misery" - Metallica : It actually helped me deal with extreme sadness.
You just stood there screaming
Fearing no one was listening to you
They say the empty can rattles the most
The sound of your own voice must soothe you
Hearing only what you want to hear
Knowing only what you've heard
You, you're smothered in tragedy
And you're off to save the world
It also changed my attitude. It put things in a lot larger scale. There's a few others but I want to stop here.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

I think I'll post some more lyrics:
Slow Emotion Replay by The The (off the Dusk album, yep, still listening to it)
-----
The more I see
The less I know
About all the things I thought were wrong or right
And carved in stone
So don't ask me about
War, Religion, or God
Love, Sex, or Death
Because....
Everybody knows what's going wrong with the world
But I don't even know what's going on in myself.
You've gotta work out your own salvation.
With no explanation to this Earth we fall
On hands and knees we crawl
And we look up to the stars
And we reach out and pray
To a deaf, dumb and blind God who never explains.
Everybody knows what's going wrong with the world
But I don't even know what's going on in myself.
Lord, I've been here for so long
I can feel it coming down on me
I'm just a slow emotion replay of somebody I used to be.

I think I just like posting lyrics.
Here's a song that I've dedicated to two girls. Both of whom I've loved and lost. Oh well, third time is the charm, or so they say.
The song is Halo, by the Cure, off their Friday, I'm in Love Single.
I never felt like this with anyone before
You only have to smile and I'm dizzy
You make the world go round
A thousand times an hour
Just touch my head
And send me spinning
I never felt like this with anyone before
You show me colours and I'm crying
You hold my eyes in yours
And open up the world
I can't believe all of this
I want to keep this feeling
Deep inside of me
I want you always in my heart
You are everything
I never felt like this with anyone before
You fill my head full of rainbows
And all the rainbows end
Is every step you take
Just to be with you forever
I want to keep this feeling
Deep inside of me
I want you always in my heart
You are everything
