Is Hip-Hop a fad?

Post by billy_wires » Sat Nov 29, 2003 3:29 pm

If it is, I hope it dies soon, because almost every new music idol is a rapper, and they are getting younger. What's next, a 5 year-old kid singing about his money and bitches, cars and drugs, ect. Because that is all rap is really about.

Wait, they don't really sing, they just speak in rythm.

But I do have one rap song I like. As I was walking out to my car at school, I heard a song that had the following lyrics, as far as I can tell:

Fuck a hoe
Fuck a hoe
Fuck a hoe
Fuck a hoe...
and that is where I stopped listening.

Don't generalise HipHop. Just because there's a sudden influx of bling obsessed wannabe rappers doesn't mean the whole scene has gone to hell.

What what, don't be smoking weed Scrib *smacks self*

Anyway, I agree with the fact that the current Hiphop scene blows.

That reminds me of those kids Kriss Kross that were big in the early nineties, who were insanely popular for no apparent reason and wore their clothes backwards.

Thankfully, they were one-hit wonders and are probably flipping burgers or something like that today.

Of course Rap is a fad. It is the equivelant of disco. Accept, MTV is pulling the strings in this one.

Fad doesn't mean it has lasted for a short while, that has really nothing to do with it. Something could last for a thousand years and then be turned into a fad.

rap isn't a fad. it's been around since the 1980s, and fads dont typically last 20 years. It's a perfectly acceptable music genere. but if it comes near me, I'll kill it.

news flash ... the human race is a fad too ... we haven't even been here for a fraction of a second according to a more universal time line. and i don't forsee us being here for much longer either.

As for hip-hop/rap ... i don't care because i don't listen to them ... those scenes can do what ever the hell they wan't.

Hip-Hip is not a fad, never was and i highly doubt it will ever be... as for Rap... hmm.. well, I can't say it is for there are still some very good Rap artist, like DMX, Nas, and of course the 2 MC's that were once the very best in the Rap game... 2Pac and the Notorious B.I.G. as for Hip-Hop, it is still going strong like it always has through underground... and not that mainstream crap that's just.. that.. crap, crapolia, crapolism... or whatever u wanna call it..
