The Chick Factor in Metal
I won't repost it here but this week's Metalreviews.com editorial seems to justify the sudden growth in AMVs using NIGHTWITH more than any other "real metal" band. You can read the article by going to the website and clicking on REVIEWS & it's the first link at the top.
My favorite quote is :
"On a side note, the first person to tell me that Nightwish is an Evanescence rip off will be assaulted verbally until they cry."
It kind of dove-tails the American Metal Question article which is why I find is rather interesting.

Re: The Chick Factor in Metal
Thats funny because I've heard it from everyone who I play nightwish for who says they like Evanescence. Sad, really. Anyway, I'll definitely get to looking at that article tomarrow, because I've always liked women vocals, especially in metal, where they would seem to be so out of place.rubyeye wrote:"On a side note, the first person to tell me that Nightwish is an Evanescence rip off will be assaulted verbally until they cry."

So you want to hate them, but it really isn't their fault, at least not directly.
Fucking radio.
System of a Down ,I think, lost some respect due to radio overplay. I really like them too.
However, I stopped listening to the radio years ago. I only listen to what cds I buy, or music I download.(I do so love Overclocked Remix)
My only gripe about metal is that the majority I come across sounds too '80s
I suppose that's because I seem to like industrial (or at least Orgy and Deadsy, and PM5K, and Zeromancer seems to be growing on me....)
But I also been giving heavy listening time to the Blue Man Group, my anime osts (Ranma, Evangelion, Big O, Outlaw Star, Hellsing), and other osts (Halo game ost, Starship Troopers ost)
Also, the music from the Lord of the Rings is also quite appealing.
The Big O will KILL you!

I think that when bands do promotional stuff and excell their bands career getting more popular and etc. They are called sellouts. Especially when the songs they make are played over and over again on the damn radio..
But, That just doesnt count for metal bands or whatever.. It actually can be placed anywhere in the music biz.. seriously.. radios need to stop playing the same songs repeatedly over and over in the same fuckin hour.
Thats why I usually listen to the underground bands more often.. So I wont be called a so called
"poser"
And another thing.. why do people call people posers when everything has already been done before.. to restate what i said about people will call me a poser if I listen to all those Blink and Simple.. FUCK THEM.. So what.. I'm a poser.. big deal.. Shoot me why dont you..

Well, I listen to mostly underground stuff too. I haven't listened to the radio in years, literally. I do take the time to listen to some of the newer bands, though, just so I can know what I'm talking about.
And posers, when dealing with music, are just people that put up a pretense of listening to a certain kind of music that they really don't listen to or like. That's what I've gathered, anyway. I could be wrong, but... I don't think I am.

To be perfectly honest, I think I'd be a poser if I denied that I like Evanescence. I'd be pretending that I hate all nu-metal, when that's not entirely true.Dictionary.com wrote:poser
n. A wannabee; not hacker slang, but used among crackers, phreaks and warez d00dz. Not as negative as lamer or leech. Probably derives from a similar usage among punk-rockers and metalheads, putting down those who "talk the talk but don't walk the walk".
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
