I don't have much experience with Jpop, but I'm rather fond of the music of Kotoko (of I've), which includes the songs from Onegai Teacher and Twins.

I don't regularly listen to j-pop, but I have heard some songs by Ayumi Hamasaki, Rina Aiuchi, and Namie Amuro. Of the three, I liked Rina the most, she seemed to have a more powerful voice than the other two. While Ayumi and Namie are about a tie. As for Boa, I've only heard her Korean songs
