Is anyone here actually into REAL metal?

I've only started today on this board. Yet from all the threads I've seen so far, people are only into Drowning Pool and Slipknot. Do any of you kick it with real metal?

Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Evergrey, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Dragonforce, Dream Theater, Dream Evil, Metallica, Megadeth, Sonata Arctica, Dio, Edguy, Yngwie Malmsteen, Hammerfall, Jag Panzer, Symphony X, Gamma Ray, Nevermore, Testament, Judas Preist, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Zakk Wylde & TBLS, Manowar?

I'm not trying to put other people's music choices down [and please don't make this into a flame war], but I just want to see where the real metalheads are. Those are some of my favorite bands. What of you?

heh, you like alot of power/prog stuff...

there are a few of us real metal people here, nailz,,me, flint, kai, shadow, brsrkeva, a few others

i stick with more of the black/death, but listen tomost other metal.

i dont really like bu/rap metal, a couple bands are tolerable, but for the most part its garbage...

I think there are quite a few metalites around the board. I'm more into weird stuff (i.e., bands like They Might Be Giants, Man or Astro-Man?, a lot of random techno/electronic music, Weird Al Yankovic), usually, but I like Metallica (both old and new) and Megadeth (to a lesser degree). I'm not as into the "true" metal more from a lack of exposure than anything. What I've heard I've usually liked, as long as the lyrics aren't too out there (in terms of violence, hate, growling/screaming, and/or creepy Satanic or ritualistic stuff; hey, I might like 'weird' music but I still have a sense of morality about it) and there are some good power chords and solo work going on.

No Slipknot for me, usually, though some of their 'softer' stuff from their latest album doesn't terribly offend me (and for some reason, I really like the song "Duality"). But I'd take Tool any day over Slipknot.

Hello fellow metal head. When I read the topic saying real metal I thought you were referring to TRUE Metal bands like LOST HORIZON. Sure they are a little cheesy but their music is unequalled!

But to answer your question....There's about 3 or 4 of us on this board who frequently talk about "real" metal and advertise news and new releases as they come. Maybe a couple more, including yourself

Anyway, glad to see another like minded music lover.

That's bull. Did you read the whole thread?
Think not, because if you did, your findings would have been different.
Like the fact that here are a lot of music lovers with truly weird music with tastes ranging from A-Z.

Frankly I don't classify anything as real or unreal when regarding music unless someone says something absurd.
Example: "Love Britney Spears she's the best Death Metal singer ever"

Obviously your not trying to put anyone's music choices down since people here like to use boots on arse.
Real metal heads? Yeah, already said my peace on that.
Personally don't clasify music into sub-genres but I do listen to:
Iron Maiden>Evanescence>Iced Earth>The Rasmus>Metallica>Ramones>Megadeth>Saliva>Judas Preist>Staind>Ozzy Osborne>Everclear>System of a Down>Filter>Marylin Manson>Feeder>Incubus>The Used>Rufio>Maná>Savatage> Rammstein>etc.
Most of these band are not Metal but that not the point.
*Note the (>) doesn't mean "better than" it means "to", it's to display the wide range in taste.
