I am just curious if anyone still listens to the ska music. I am really diggin' the new Catch CD. I also can't wait for the new Streetlight Manifesto.

That makes it sound like the songs would be really long. I mean, that's a lotta cats.
I'm still diggin' the first wave Jamaican stuff. It adds the fun of actually having to research your music (if you want to avoid terrible recordings or terrible compilations, especially). I've only heard the first Catch 22 album, but quite a few other third wave albums.
I actually had a school-project webpage about ska where I really nerded the hell out of it and analyzed the third wave into east and west coast styles, saying the west coast was more influenced by second wave (Madness) and the east was more influenced by first wave (Skatalites), citing I believe Save Ferris on the west and the Scofflaws on the east. I like Less Than Jake. They are ska. Same thing with RX Bandits. As for their definative sound, they are whatever they want to be.
