Your Own Musical "Careers"
How many of you play instruments, anyone in a band? Anyone in a successful band?
I play Electric Guitar (I have a 1960's classic re-issue Gibson Les Paul :¬ D), Steel accoustic guitar and Bass Guitar. I'm in a band and may be joining a new fairly established band (in my area anyway) as the guitarist or maybe the bassist.
But if anyone's looking for a guitarist/bassist..?

I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

*obligatory wrench in the works post*
I played church organ for 7 years, 1997-2004. I am not religious, but I got the job anyway.
Every so often I would get the mental image of playing "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and try not to crack up.
And for about a year I had a really hard time staying awake during the sermons, since I didn't have to do anything for half an hour.
But other than that I was good.
Yeah. Not all musicians are rock musicians, dig?

I'm also a musician does does not play rock.
I've been playing flute since the third grade. My school back then didn't have a band so I was taking private lessons. When I moved to New Jersey, my new school did have one so I dropped the lessons and I just did the band thing all the way through high school.
Seton Hall's music program isn't that great....it isn't that big. The only instrumental group we have is the basketball pep band. So I play piccolo in that. To help bring up my overall GPA, I'm working on a music minor.
Other then that I "played" trombone in high school jazz band. I had fun but I was pretty bad at it the instrument.

I had a music career playing air guitar in Kindergarten.
No, for real. I gathered quite an audience too. I met a guy (who wasn't even in my group/class) many years later who still remembered my performances.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Sounds like Otohiko's air-guitar career took off more than my drumming career has. It's not easy to find a good band in jerkwater New Hampshire sometimes. :p
So far I have been in a bad nü-metal band that never wrote any songs, a jazz trio that played one charity gig, a noise duo that has made nine really bad tapes, a hardcore punk trio that only wrote about four songs, an emo band that never finished assembling a setlist, a metal band that recorded a demo and played one unpaid gig before disbanding, and (currently) an altrock kinda band that hasn't found a guitarist yet. I also tried out for at least half a dozen bands in college.
Oh yeah, it doesn't help much that I suck at drums. :p

I've been playing guitar for about 8 years. I was in a band, but left due to differences.
Now, I'm actually working on my own thing. One of my friends is a producer and he adds digital drums to my tracks. I'll probably post links to my music whenever I get a full song down. I have a short 35 second clip of my shit, but that's about it. Haha.
I'm also trying to sing. It's difficult, but I'm determined.

Played piano for 3 or 4 years (from when I was about 8yo to 10), clarinet for 5 years (5th to 9th grade), sang for 7 years (4th to 10th grade).
Probably can't do any worth a damn now, but singing I'm most regretful about. After 10th I left for a small college with an even smaller chorus, and I didn't have the schedule availability (nor strong urge) to go from having been in a chorus of 150 students to a chorus of 20. When the last harmony in a song echoes for 5-10 seconds after you stop singing, it's hard to leave that for something smaller
