Music in latin?

Post by Orwell » Thu Jan 25, 2007 3:47 am

Anyone know some bands that do music in latin? I *think* nightwish does, and Epica includes a bit of latin, but those are the only bands I'm aware of. This is probably something that should be directed towards the finnish, if the stereotype that Finland loves Rome is true.

And none of that Latin American stuff, since that's all google seems to understand.

Every band likes to throw some random Latin phrases in the mix, from Tristania to Sonata Arctica. If your question pertains soley to the metal genre then that's really all you're going to get, few phrases here and there with many bands, mostly in the Gothic genre. In general, I keep thinking in my mind Medieval Babes, I don't know if all their stuff is in Latin, I know there's some other languages going on there but it's worth checking out, although it is not metal in any way.

I'm not too concerned with genre, I'm just looking for more variations to add to the mix. I'd like to find a band who does all the music in latin.

"Era" sing in an invented language that very much sounds like Latin (well, when you don't know Latin, or else it's just gibberish!).

Their first album is the best one.

I recommend Lesiëm, particularly "Fundamentum" (sometimes incorrectly attributed to E Nomine), "Fortitudo", and "Caritas".
