New band would like an AMV for their new single!

Hi. I'm the vocalist and lyricist for a new band called the beautiful ones. We're a trans-pacific ElectoFunk duo, and I'm specifically a pretty avid Anime' fan. I wouldn't say aficiado (sp?)... I just watch Anime' before I watch normal TV and have thorughout my entire adult life.

We just released our first single for free download on our website and I was hoping for one of two things; ideas or an approach as to how to go about making an AMV for one of the songs featured on the release or for someone to make an AMV featuring one or both of the songs. I was thinking of starting a contest, but seeing as how this is my first post I wanted to ask this question in general terms before I did anything else. What would be a good series to represent this song in an AMV? Any particular episodes or scenes? Would a contest be the right direction to go? Honestly, I wouldn't care so much about one specific winner... if multiple people wanted to use the material then I think the both of us would be fine with it. I'd just like to see if used in some way so that people can hear our work and see it against a suitable backdrop.

The website is the band name as one word with org after the dot. The entire release is streaming through a flash player on the front page and it's available for download on the downloads page. Any discussion, advice, suggestions, comments, or concerns are appreciated.

That would be me, and I would be a guy. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing... I'm not entirely sure I want to find out just yet.

Nah, you're fine unless you start breaking rules or something. And that goes for anybody.

But anyway, I think the crux of the issue would be that amvs are technically illegal for commercial purposes. So unless you actually intend to purchase rights to an anime. Most editors will shy off for fear of legal repurcussions.

Ahhh. So it's the legality issue with the anime and not the music. I thought it was the other way around at first.

Well, we're going to need some kind of video. Maybe I'll look into something else. I certainly wouldn't object if something just popped up on Youtube though.

Thanks for the compliment, too. I'm very excited about our music... album's out in August and we're preparing to do live action videos left and right. I guess I was really hoping to find an audience with people that shared a major interest of mine.
