A video playing with slides. How do I do it?

So i saw this video it has like slides and Idk how to do it.
I use Sony Vegas 7

It's in the intro.. And I'm wondering about the effect on 3:22 so yeah.

.. ouw .. my eyes hurt *_* .. that is just just simple masking technic's added with layers.
