Re: Cookie cutter or masking?
That looks like something that cookie cutter or something similar could easily accomplish. You'd probably cookie cut the image on top of the background and then just animate the pink thing to cover the line of the cookie cutter. It's just one of the ways to do it though. I think track matte in premiere or after effects would be easier than cookie cutter in vegas for something like this, though.

Re: Cookie cutter or masking?
mh maybe but how cookie cutter can take that diagonal direction? i tried but nothing-_- the only way is to mask the image i think... and wow if it's like you say about the pink line this will take ages to make it-_-cos the pink line should actually follow the same directions as the masking-_-thx 4 help anyway XD

Re: Cookie cutter or masking?
I thought that cookie cutter was more controllable but apparently not... I don't use vegas so I was sort of assuming.
But yeah, if you have to actually mask it, then track matte is a better and easier solution.

Re: Cookie cutter or masking?
Alright I'll try to give this a shot!
In the video example the person probably made the border in photoshop or got it off the internet. I'm just going to use one from the internet.
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i77/h ... stract.jpg - just googled "cool borders"
Ok so I took out the the black part of the picture by using the magic wand tool in photoshop and saved it as a .PNG
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm17 ... r/Tut1.jpg
Then I put it in vegas duplicated the track and masked the 2 borders separately
Mask 1: http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm17 ... r/Tut2.png
Mask 2: http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm17 ... r/Tut3.jpg
I zoomed in the border (pan/crop) so that it is able to take up half the preview screen's space and I also angled it so it looks like the actually border was slanted.
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm17 ... r/Tut4.jpg
(Note: Do this to the other masked border as well)
Now once you did that step you have something that looks like this:
http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm17 ... r/tut5.png
Now it's just a matter of playing with the keyframes!
here's the finished product for me BUT yours should looks much better than this pile of crap lol I made this in like 2 minutes

Hope this helped somewhat!
