Lol yea it is really overused X3
U can get away with it though if it's really blended in with the video.
That's pretty hard to do with Spicemaster though.

Plugins are useless, especially for Vegas. All effects can be created from scratch, it's very easy.
Plugins are only except-able if you can't produce the effect in any way, usually people use plugins for better PG's etc.

it makes me chuckle
NewBlue is a plug-in rooster for both Sony and Adobe, featuring a ton of colour/lightning-based effects.
Basically, it's presets in a sense. As for Spicemaster, I personally think it's really crappy from what I've both seen and tried out. Spicemaster is for most part border animations of various sorts.
As for the topic. I've seen it being used here and there, although not to it's full potential.

There have been studios on YouTube based entirely around SpiceMaster and NewBlue. The videos posted by the members were so horrible I couldn't bare to watch them. So, yes, on YouTube, they have become totally and entirely overused. SpiceMaster, in my view, is a piece of shit that no one should use (unless it's the ripple effect.) I use NewBlue for colours, but that's only because I can use one NewBlue effect to produce what I would need three regular effects for. So, basically, to simplify things.

I guess they could be considered overused, I do see them pretty often in amateur amvs. I think most good creators blend them into their amvs if they use them at all so I don't notice them very much.
