Ideas for effects for "slow" parts?

Currently I'm working with a project in where the first half of the song is a slow/soft piano type of sound (the latter part is hard rocking and way more intense, and I pretty much know what I want to do there). There some effects like the "pulse" or "beat"/"after image" effect that I think go better with the more intense songs/parts of songs, and would feel awkward with this kind of sound.

Anyway, what types of visual effects would you use for the slower/softer types of music in an AMV? This isn't so much looking for directions on how to do something, as much as it is just looking for inspiration/ideas.

Slow Transitions. A slight glow and some color correction to make it look all pretty. Maybe a second layer with the footage blurred and the opacity low to make it look softer.

Consider the fade, especially if you can portay the transition that depicts the chosen idea, for example a musical instrument to a skateboard, as this video shows. I really liked the slow fadeout that seems to unite the same movement of the characters.

There are many ways you could go about doing it. For example, cross fading into another "linked clip" (something that resembles the same clip).

You could try using slides or linear slides/zooms.

You could also try masking over another another clip and using the masked clip as a reference to your next clip

Another way would be a common way of just jigsaw masking.

There are honestly endless ways to go about doing it. It just depends on what you feel fits your video best.

Many anime has other shots like wide medium close you can cut around these to create a scene with the shots provided if you do not want to use effects. You can also use neutral shots of other characters in the same scene and bounce around that way and only fade when the location changes OR use the character like them running from the conversation to transition into the next frame. I do this quite a bit.

Slow pans/zooms that go in one motion. So the first scene might have a slow zoom out, and then the next will have a slow pan to the left... something like that.
