I've started work on a project recently (Although I may not be able to go through with it due to some strange FPS issues), and to make it look as good as possible, I'll need to repaint a character to look entirely different (The same kind of effect as videos such as this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09cyrQu5yVA). My question is how do I do that? if it involves completely redrawing the character, I'm totally screwed, so I'm hoping it works differently to that.
If it helps, I need the change the clothing a character is wearing. Thanks in advance.

Re: How to repaint a Character
If you need to completely change a character's outfit and have it not look ridiculous (meaning, look like they're actually wearing it in the show), then yeah, you're talking about completely redrawing at least the body of the character, and probably doing a lot of patch work to the background. The only other option would be, if you're trying to make the character look like they're dressed up as another character that's already made, you could try just swapping their heads. Would be much easier, but still a ton of roto and clean-up work. Basically I'm trying to say, there's no quick and easy way to do what you're looking for.
