DDR arrows on top of the video?
How can I put DDR arrows on top of the video? Say, if I had a video similar to this one:
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... c93d5b1d57
but instead of the background behind the arrows I had the clip I wanted to use?

I would say get a clip of the arrows you wanted to use and simply mask them out if your using vegas or such. Arrows seem quite easy consisting mostly of straight lines. Just mask the arrows out on top and have the clip you want on a bottom layer.

I use Vegas Movie Studio which dosen't have masking, so that would be hard for me... I suppose I could export the still images and edit out the background somehow, but that might take too long to do for a 2 or 3-minute video...Defmode wrote:I would say get a clip of the arrows you wanted to use and simply mask them out if your using vegas or such. Can't. Don't have the money and don't want to use pirated software.hasteroth wrote:Upgrade?DarkPhoenix22 wrote:I use Vegas Movie Studio which dosen't have masking, so that would be hard for me... Re: DDR arrows on top of the video?
what is when you cut out the arrows with something like Photoshop? and put it on a layer, key the rest out of the pic and normaly you would have the arrow on the pic. then make keyframes and let it move. At the moment of the hit you can strech the arrow shortly and blend it with a lighting effect out. But ok i dont know which effects Vegas has, so its like a thing what could be done if you have the chances, some little ideas.

Well if you're not willing to spend time/money on that video there's not much you can do. You can survive a while by getting free trials of better programs and masking it there, but eventually those trials will expire. I'd really recommend upgrading, so you could show your potential instead of letting the software limit your abilities.

Heh, if you just want the setupd like that with the vid behind, the easiest thing is to edit the video, get stepmania, put the video as background so it shows while you play, and playing while recording the thing.DarkPhoenix22 wrote:How can I put DDR arrows on top of the video? You might need a rather strong pc tho, 'cause handling stepmania+video decoding+recording at the same time might be hard on your cpu (I'd say a dual core might be needed at least).
Another thing is just playing stepmania and recording that, then keying the thing on your video in vegas (you could use a black background with luma keying, for example).
Or you could take a simple gif arrow and manually animate the whole thing from scratch...
