Video effect for a noob

Hey all ...

I am new to making amv's and this site ... so I do apologise if this is a stupid question...

I wanted to know what effect is used when they have a person in a clip appear on top of another clip ... for example ... naruto's face and a smaller picture of naruto standing in the main clip which is completely different ... I would upload a pic ... but I havent worked out how yet ...

I am using adobe premiere 6 and video edit magic ...

It's called masking.

To my better knowledge neither of those programs have advanced masking tools. If you look around this section of the board for the term "masking". Then you'll fine a couple of alternatives for it though.
