1:1 Never changing

Post by Sephirothskr » Thu Aug 07, 2014 5:11 pm

Hey guys, this is the best video I've ever made. I worked very hard on it and I would like to know what you think.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I try not to get discouraged with this stuff... I was kinda worried that my message would come across a little wonky. The roller coaster emotion dips was intentional.. I guess others didn't seem to like it very much it would seem. Hmm. I did slow down on certain emotional parts such as the final chorus (Where the music and beats slow down) That whole part, as seen, was romance. I tried to go: Happy, upbeat, then go to sentimental, to sad, to romance, and back to happy. Tried to show many colors of the spectrum in one video rather than focus on one thing. A rainbow if you will. Next time, I'll try to be a bit more concise. My scene selection at times, I chose specifically for what was in it as in, if there was holding hands, I tried to show that multiple times in the video to show the romance aspect. The clips cameras moving I used for the sole purpose of flow. A clip that is moving everywhere that goes to a completely still image looks very weird. The song was so upbeat that slowing it down any further than what I had it just seemed strange to me. Because my whole idea to the video, was trying to be upbeat and happy, with a little taste of sad and romance. I wanted it to touch those subjects, on delve on them. Which is why I went Happy, sad, back to happy. So when the final chorus hit, it matched those themes together all in one. Kind of a weird vision I suppose. For my next video... I have seen people make these "theatrical inspirational videos" with the characters talking to a sad or epic song or something like that. I wanted to do something like that. My idea was possibly going through all major deaths of an anime, having them all saying something inspirational that they did in their lives to a sad song, then once the song ends, cut to black. Same song (reprised version) plays, and there is no talking, just remembering what everyone did. So I believe your criticism will help me a bunch with my next one. I'll try to be precise with it.

Ok, glad I could be helpful :) . Although, you don't need to only focus on one emotion throughout the whole video, I meant more to have the emotions flow with the song. If there's a sad verse in a song, stay consistently sad with the verse. If the chorus is happy, stay happy with the chorus. Just avoid jumping between contrasting scenes too quickly if the music doesn't call for it.

That sounds like a cool idea for your next AMV. It reminds of this one I saw a while ago.

You could check it out for inspiration.
