Thoughts on my In progress video (Discussion)

Post by Sephirothskr » Tue Oct 28, 2014 6:13 pm

As I do not want to be showing a preview yet, I merely want to discuss what I'm doing.

This video has no story. It has no plot. Rather than a plot or story, it's all mood. Emotions. And follows a flow of these emotions and moods throughout the thing, but never actually conveys a physical story, but the stories that all the anime hold, the happiest moments in the series, the beautiful nature shots, the sad deaths of our favorite characters. And it's through this that I tell a "Story" but really, rather than a story, I'm conveying moods and emotions. Through parallelism, I show two completely different anime, yet make them appear to be as if they're one in the same, or even within the same universe. Through this concept, I want to show everyone the thing that the community loves and binds us together, through the means that binds all these shows together. Hence the title, "Anime as we know it".

Do you like my concept? I will make it a reality. I just want to know what you all think.

Yea it's a good idea. but if you look around the org. Your definitely not the first person to think of that. I'm making a video pretty similar myself right now. Don't let that discourage you though. Making your own interpretation of those anime emotions is still going to be different from everyone else's.

So far, my video is more than halfway done and is definitely... 'different' from the others on the org. And probably 3 x as long.

Do you like to watch very long AMVs? If so, why?

If you usually don't, what is it about some of them that has bored you or made you turn them off before they're finished?

Attention spans are not getting any longer these days. Most "AMVs" being made today are less than a minute long.

I'm currently making something that's about 8 minutes long so I'm interested in your thoughts on this.

For a long video, it has to be 'epic' for me to watch it. I'm currently making an 'epic'. Tbh, I hardly watch AMV's at all. Funny that I love making them yet rarely watch them isn't it? ^^ But the ones I usually like, give me a sense of awe, or euphoria. Hopefully my new one accomplishes that, same with yours.

Btw, I just counted. Currently, I'm sitting at around 42 different shows in this video. Like holy jesus. For a solo project being 8 minutes long, that is a massive undertaking.

I just watch your vid and I can see how much freaking effort you must have put into this. I'll try and write you an opinion on it soon, you deserve at least that much for an 8 minute AMV
