Well, I must admit there's an AMV I agreed to op a couple of months ago that I still haven't got around to doing- frankly, I'm rather reluctant to do it because, well... um... the AMV... isn't very good, let's put it that way, and I'm not sure how to do it kindly. (Also, I'd have to rewatch it, and considering both it's quality and it's length, this isn't a prospect that appeals to me). But my conscience gets some relief because the guy who offered it to me hasn't op'ed any of ours yet either, so at least I don't actually owe him anything. I suppose it just happens, but I need to make sure it doesn't happen again- my rep is at stake here.

The best thing to do when someone doesn't get an op to you in the time you'd like, is to simply PM them. Sometimes there are extrenuating circumstances that come up. Although sometimes, there aren't. Either way, before you go into an op exchange, look at a user's profile. If the thread has a bunch of posts asking for ops, and the guy offering the op has only given five and that number isn't increasing as the days go by, you probably shouldn't ask him for an op.

Also, the best way that I've seen to get ops back, is to simply start your own thread, and say that you won't actually give an op to a person until they give you one (although apparently, getting an op back might be hard).

Overall though, we're on the honor system. If you offer to exchange ops with people (or take people up on that offer), it's your job to get that op back to them, even if you dislike the vid and think that it's the worst thing you've ever seen in your life. And of course, if you don't think that a video is very good, you can always offer them advice in your op, e.x. if the AMV doesn't have good video quality, point them to the guides on the main page of the site, or tell them what you think what would've been better to do in the vid, and then perhaps recommend them videos to watch that didn't make the same mistake, or just did something in a way that worked.

That´s what I usually do, and yeah you don´t get much feedback for that.

I always start my own thread like Tsunami Jones says to do and I have not had a problem with people giving me ops back. There has only been one time that I was cheated out of a op and I figure oh well he must have gotten something more important to do than to sit around and watch my video. But I do believe that I have never cheated anyone before actually I feel bad if it takes me more the a couple of days and I start sending them pm's to tell them why I have not finished their op yet.
I guess what I am trying to say is most people on this site will not cheat you out of the ops that they owe you. If aything they probaly forgot or are caught up doing something else more important. And if that happens it is best to just ask them why they have not given you your op yet (which is something that I never did when I was cheated) or just move on. Then again you coould just tell me and I would probably feel bad for you and op the vido for you. (damn being nice. lol)

Well, feedback on ops can be lacking if they come from op enchanges or not. But yes, I know what you mean.

Actually, my feedback to him took 2 screens at 1024 by 768 resolution. So it wasn't a short pansy opinion. However, I did give him a bad feedback, mostly around the 5 range. And if I remember correctly, I reserved the #5 position to op him back then. But whatever, maybe he didn't like my opinion, or maybe he's just a 14 year old that doesn't care, but anyways, I what's done is done, and I'll be sure not to leave ops for him again.

However, I'm glad there's a thread about the opinions he missed. Thanks to the thread starter.

I owe at least 2 people ops, and my reasoning for not having them done yet is two fold. One is that I write really REALLY long ops, generally taking at least an hour of my time, so HAVING the time to sit down and write it becomes an issue, especially in college. And the second reason is that sometimes I frankly just forget. Please PM me if I owe you an op, as I'm now on break.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

i understand that the guy may have other, more important things to do. However, when you start a new thread of exchange for the same vid, sumthin's up. it's not a real big deal. just wondering if i got stiffed.
