Okay guys. This is getting ridiculous. I asked for 3 videos and now have a list of 7 or 8. While I'd love to give opinions to everyone, it just isn't practical for me. Please stop posting videos until I've at least caught up and asked for more. I thought this would have been implied so I didn't explicitly say it. Being that I made the assumption, I'll still give opinions to the two new videos. Those may not be for weeks though...

lol
Anyway, I should rephrase what I said. I didn't actually mean the whole top 10% I ment the top ten in the top ten%, much more manageable. Particuarly, here's some classics\or at least good enough to be top ten. (they don't need OPs, they have enough )
Okay, this pretty much set the bar when it comes to action videos. While later styles may have more kenetic editing (e.g serra lonna) This is a great example of 1. how to do an action video that actually has story, and 2. good use of subtle effects. The fact that it's currently the number 2 all time highest rated video on the org says alot.
The current number 5 video. It shows that you don't need any effects at all if you put the work into editing. This amv has almost perfect sync, and basicly tells the entire story of the series in 3 minutes. This is addicting.
Pretty much a similer example as the last one, except this focuses more on on the mood of the song, trying to capture the heart and soul of the song in the video. The current number 6, this is one of my favorites.
Anyway, there's more that would fit in this list very well, but three's more then enough for now. Just remember that they don't need OPs and you can watch at you leasure.

Your opinion is posted. Took me about an hour and a half to compose it, so I hope you find use from it. XDFunky-kun wrote:If you've read the guides and watched several good videos, you should have an idea what a good AMV looks like and how to do it. And yeah, take your time, slow editing ftw!
You can op this if you want to:
Ask if you have any questions.

well giving opinions is an interesting way to try to make friends here...
considering that depending on the person you are giving the opinion to and the degree of harshness they usually enjoy that can sometimes uh do the exact opposite of "making friends".
I'm not going to ask for an op because unlike the rest of the people on here I can read...
the leeches that see a thread (without many restrictions on it) that offers free ops they will jump at the chance, even if they get turned down, and they start posting like crazy. So, writing "free ops" alone can attract a lot of people...

That's how ops should be done! You can see my detailed comments on my op from the "MY OPS GIVEN" button on the main page. Thanks a lot again for the great op!Aedren wrote:Your opinion is posted. Op posted. It took me about an hour to write. As with my other ops, I hope you find use from it.Kevmaster wrote:
And I second what the other 2 said, lol. In case you need any help, feel free to ask.
And that's the first three completed opinions here... I'll likely do CodeChrono's video soon because it's short. I've watched Senvae's a few times, and have an idea of what I want to say but haven't put much effort to it yet.
@vivaldiscool: I appreciate the direct links to those videos. I'll probably end up watching them tonight. And yeah, top 10 is a lot more manageable than top 12,000. LOL.
@JaddziaDax: LOL. True that this can do the opposite. I don't mind, because if someone doesn't respect my honesty then they're likely not someone I want to be friends with in the first place, eh? You have a good point about people posting even if they get turned down. I, however, already wrote that I would do the ops so I won't reverse that. However, if you do want a video op'ed, I'll "reserve" a spot for you. (Because I respect that you could have posted a video, but understood that I really did only want 3 and decided not to.) Note this offer is only for JaddziaDax, so you other leechers don't start posting new videos yet. XD;;;
@Funky-kun: You're welcome. I read your response before I saw this post, but thanks for the instructions anyway I appreciate your "that's how ops should be done," because you not only acknowledge the time I spent on it, but (incidentally) also my disappointment in the many thoughtless ops thrown around like candy.
Mini-rant: Perfect 10 scores with comments like "I like you, so here is a good score for your video" don't help anybody. It inflates video ratings, provides no useful advice/benefit for the editor's future videos, and waste space better used for meaningful ops.
As for the status of my own video:
I purchased the software today (gotta love eduction discount... 1/3 the price), and also have the full collector's edition of the anime sitting next to my laptop now (found it, hah!). Of course it's now that I'm ready that I realized I have 2gigs of free space. XD. So I'll begin my own captures/edits as soon as I get an external hard drive (tomorrow).
Question: AMVapp doesn't seem like it's been updated in years. Is it just a collection of other software programs? Or does it provide an interface to cohesively bring the other programs together? If I do download it, and subsequently download the newer versions of each contained application, will this "interface" still operate correctly?

The amvapp is just a collection of software... if you want an update on it Zarxrax is currently working on a set of beta guides as an update to the eadfag guide...
As for leaving me an op, only if you want to leave one, I don't have a particular video in mind though. I'm not particularly "hurting" for ops right now either, so no worries.
