Was there any particualr time when you found yourself getting bored? I thought that the story moved along pretty well up through the time when he gave her the shoes.Spatula_Castle wrote: Every Time
I watched this AMV all the way through a couple of times and the first thing that I really noticed was that it was kind of hard to watch after the first couple of minutes. The emotion was definitely there and the flow is decent, but it seemed to be a lot of the same sort of thing happening throughout the video and didn't hold my interest because of it. I think it'd be more interesting if you added more of the story into it (I've never seen this anime so I don't know for sure if there really was any added) and maybe some more flashbacks to when they were younger/how they met (if there are any) and stuff like that there.
Hope this helps. I should have comments for your Darcia video by sometime tomorrow.

At the top of the page are three letters. You type those three into the box next to them (it's to insure your not a robot or a hacking program, stuff like that) and it takes you to the download page.
I've made another based on some advice, here it is; look at this one instead.

Alright, I'll download this one and get back to you on it ASAP.WesW wrote:It appears that the problem with linking to Darcia's Descent has to do with the apostrophe in the name (code must've been designed by a Frenchman Wink ), therefore I've uploaded another version with the name Descent of Darcia. This version is more polished than the earlier one, and I've made some significant changes to the last minute or so of the vid, so if you liked the earlier version you'll want to get this one, too.
Here's the link: Darcia's Descent (I would recommend rt.-clicking and saving to the desktop.)
Yeah it was around that point that I started losing interest. Again, I don't know the anime at all so that might be why I didn't really see much of a story.WesW wrote: Was there any particualr time when you found yourself getting bored? That's all I have finished so far, and I initially posted it because I wanted a few opinions about the rotoscoping I did (since I've never attempted it before) and some other stuff. I have a WIP thread somewhere on here but so far no one's responded.WesW wrote: Did you mean to only post the first 30 seconds? Those guidelines in the rules thread were written several years ago, so I'm sure you can post the entire vid now.
Bah, the more people I irritate the betterWesW wrote:I have to tell you now, though, that the song you used has been so over-used that many people are going to blast you for it. In fact, I think that anything by Linkin Park is going to get blasted. LP is closely associated with the legions of Narutard vids that have come out over the last few years, and from what I gather many people here never want to see another LP vid. Sorry.
Myself, I'd make a thread in the general forum asking people how they feel about LP before posting your vid. I may be wrong, but this may be a case where you're better off just distributing the vid privately to your friends.
But, in all seriousness, the only reason I chose to use 'In the End' is because I can easily picture exactly what I want to happen, I have a clear concept in mind, and I feel like it's too good of an idea to not use just because majority of the people on this website hate the song/automatically associate it with something bad. And if people are going to end up bashing my AMV just because they don't like the song...well...it won't bother me any.
Hmm...maybe the song is the reason no one's responded to my WIP thread? 0_o

I don't know how much advice I can give on this one, since the song is in Japanese.Mitsukai Mizu Amaya wrote:At the top of the page are three letters. The title page went too fast to read anything, especially since you had the text scattered around the screen. It looks pretty, but you're going to have to leave it up for a while if you want people to read it all. You may want to remove some of the info that's not really needed and rearrange the text into a more symmetrical pattern so that people can read it quicker.
As far as basic editing, you seemed to do a good job in matching the mood of the music with the speed of the scenes and the transitions. I think there were some times during the fast portion of the song when you missed some beats. What you may want to do is just hit every other beat, so that people can better see what's going on, especially since the rest of the song is much slower. Imo, as long as you have a consistent rhythm, that's what matters.
I think the vid's major problem, however, comes from the wildly different quality of the various clips. The HQ portions look good, but the umm, I guess they were flashbacks, to the older gameshots were pretty weird, and the in-game footage with the text boxes just looked bad. (The one where she asked his name went by too fast to read, too.) Even if you're lyric-synching here, you don't want the footage to turn people off, so I'd try and find anything I could to replace the in-game sections. If you look at the game vids done by the major editors, I don't think you'll ever see in-game footage used, and that's for a reason.
Hope this helps.

Sorry for the long wait. Okay, here we go:
Descent of Darcia
The opening of the vid really pulled me into the video. Parts that I really liked and stood out to me were: The axe being swung down at the beginning when you showed the title of the video, the parts around 1:07 ("I wanna watch you bleed") 1:30 ("My serpentine") 2:33 (the parts flashing between the present and past) 3:26 (the lights in the sky really fit well with the music playing) 3:43 ("You're gonna die" with the wolf baring it's teeth was probably my favorite part) and of course the 'explosion' and floating eyeball at the end
Only thing was that sometimes the flow felt a little off. There were times when the video felt like it was going too 'slow' for the song. The scenes you chose were great, but a couple times it felt like they dragged a bit for the fast paced parts of the song. All of those instances though were pretty short and picked back up quick enough that it wasn't really distracting.

I have uploaded another Darcia beta. Its address is the same as before, so it doesn't matter if you get it from the other link.
Darcia's Descent
This version has quite a few changes. I've changed and re-arranged the credits, added a strobe effect to the sequence where the title used to be, added a few scenes and generally polished the vid.
Castle, glad you liked the vid. Maybe the scenes I added fixed the places where you thought the vid dragged. If not, try and let me know exactly which scenes still seem slow.
In addition to the scenes you mentioned, here are some of the ones that I really like:
>"If you got the money, honey"- gives a whole new meaning to that scene
>The scene where Jagara is looking right into the camera and giving her toast, set to the words "Welcome to the Jungle"
>"You can taste the bright lights, but you won't get them for free."- the menace in Darcia's eyes and the fright in Cher's is a classic, imo, though many people will probably miss it and think that it's a "dragging" scene.
>The reaction scenes of Cheza in the acrtic battle at the end. There's one at the start, and another when Blue gets landed upon. (This second one may have been re-positioned since the last beta.)[/quote]
