I think many folks would suggest that "keeping it simple" is the best way to go with amvs, as far as encoding goes. I can certainly appreciate that you'd want to keep audio quality high, but the biggest stumbling block usually comes with people having playback problems, which is one reason I avoid using anything more complicated than a constant-bitrate mp3/divx-xvid combo for distro.
With people's attention focused on what's happening with the picture, ultimate audio quality becomes a little less important, and a well-encoded 160-192 CBR mp3 is quite adequate, in my experience.
Most folks are more likely to notice significant issues with video quality than audio as long as it sounds "ok", so it helps to feed all those bits wasted on the audio to the video encoding, to make sure you keep the picture quality up.
I wasn't really inconvenienced, if you hover your mouse over local download links, it gives a popup display showing some information about bitrates and codecs. When I saw "PCM @ 1536 kbps" I stopped right there.
Sorry for being snappish, but I've run into a rash of vids without audio compression for some reason lately, which means I either don't download, or have to take my time to fix it to save space afterwards.

Assuming you haven't closed the topic yet, I'd appreciate if you could op With Clasped Hands
Making fun of the title is assumed, so you don't need to bother.

Well, the original post said five ops... and I've been numbering them in my posts as I did them....inthesto wrote:Assuming you haven't closed the topic yet, I'd appreciate if you could op With Clasped Hands

But I'm a sucker, so I'll probably do the odd couple of extra, including Alx's that I owe anyway.
NO more submissions though, I'll start a new thread later.
