re: your response to my Mok op

I hope that you feel better. ^^ Thank you for reviewing Pycal's Name is Mok in detail, ^^
Thanks! ^^

Every AMV (all 2! ^^) I made after this one is clean, but for some reason though it was made in 2003, it didn't clean up well. oO;
Oh, really? XD I couldn't tell about the quality, because anything made before a certain date will look crappier compared to computer-generated animation. (as in, only computer generated)

As for the Lupin movie that your friend tried to show you, I think that was Hayao Miyazaki's Castle of Cagliostro. It's the best-known and one of the most beloved of the Lupin movies, ^^ But since you like Hellsing, judging from your AMV, I'd recommend the more serious Lupin movies: Voyage to Danger, Dead or Alive, and/or Island of Assassins. ^^
You're so right! Castle of Cagliostro! And thanks for the suggestions. :P

I don't have actual masks: the closest I can get is the green screen effect, and the program is the Mac-only IMovie '09. Its preferred container is a very Windows-unfriendly .m4v. oO; It can export as .mp4, though.
I have no idea about iMovie, but if it can do that, it beats the crap out of Windows Movie Maker (which is the free movie program for Windows) No green screen, no exporting as anything other than WMV format. :(

Agh, stray frames. oO Those are things that I don't see on my version: is there any way to prevent them?
I've had someone say that there are stray frames on EVERY cut in one of my videos - and I just don't see them. :o But the important thing is that you edit at the same frame rate as your source footage. So if your source footage is 23.976 frames per second (fps), then make sure your project is set up to edit at 23.976 fps. Or if source footage is 25 fps, then project is 25 fps, too. If they don't match, then your editing program kind of blends frames to adjust to the editing frame rate. Other than that, just watch your exported movie very closely.

I didn't use a fade for 0:34 because the song is very fast. I think that my problem is that either I don't use enough fades, or I use them in weird places that makes the viewer go, "Wha?" But because I'm happy with the end result I'm still using mostly cuts.

I've noted your comment on the use of fades with green screen, and I'll take that into account the next time that I use green screen. For my latest AMV, I used transparent cutaways which aren't nearly as messy, so unless I'm going for a creepy effect, then I'll stick with transparent cutaways. I'm not sure if the same rule about fades applies to transparent cutaways, though. oO;

Well, there are no hard and fast rules for AMVs. Please don't get in the mindset that there are - it all depends on the circumstances of that particular AMV, and the viewer's preference too. ^^ I've found that it always works out best if I do things to my taste - if I panic and think "ooh, more effects to please people" it actually didn't work out. So trust your editing sense.

And are there any add-on effects for iMovie? We could download some from the internet for WMM.

Oooh, I'd love an opinion, if you wouldn't mind... but do you know Death Note, Haruhi or Naruto? (I did a Bleach one ages back, though)

soamark: No problem. ^^ Anything else you want me to watch?
darfurnub: I reviewed My Sky. Thanks for reviewing Lupin's On A Whole Other Level. ^^ Anything else you want me to watch?
Nikolakis, please review this one:

dazza1008: Quality: Thanks for that information. It's good to know that there's a limitation on how high you can make the quality of older shows. ^^

Castle of Cagliostro: Yay! ^^ You're welcome for the recommendations: I hope you do get to watch some Lupin in the future. ^^

Windows Media: Wow, that sounds terrible. OO But it could have fooled me, because there are a lot of good videos made in Windows Media and they look gorgeous. But I guess the grass always looks greener. ^^;

Stray frames: Okay, I'll keep the same editing frame rate in mind. oO; I'll see what I can do about it. ^^

Rules: I'll keep that in mind that editing should be based on individual taste and I'll maintain my own style. I usually do, anyway, whether I try to change it or not. ^^

Add-ons: I googled it and it doesn't look like there are add-ons for IMovie. : ( But it's okay--Effects are a double-edged sword, and what I find is the more effects that are used, the more it takes away from the story instead of enhancing it. Green screen and cutaways will be as far as I go--I don't dare play around with masking, because then I might lose the story altogether in a swamp of aesthetics. ^^;

I reviewed your Light Is White And Nerdy, but I'm afraid it wasn't as detailed as yours. If you're looking for specifics, I'll edit my review of your AMV to address your specific concerns, if you have any. Thanks. ^^

Hey there! ^^

With the stray frames, I'm not sure if you can change the editing frame rate when you set up your project. (frame rate stuff needs to be done at the beginning)

And with the add-ons - I found some! :o Simply google "imovie plugins"
Sometimes you get free sites, like
http://www.geethree.com/slick/free.html
(other sites could be part free, with some you need to buy)

Actually, would you mind leaving a quick comment (don't worry about a whole review) to see if is 'faster' compared to Light is White and Nerdy?

Thanks. ^^

You need to catalog your video first or you can't get an opinion. Use VidID to post the info here after you list it.
