kickass331 - Common Sense is Void

Post by kickass331 » Tue Aug 17, 2010 1:41 pm

This video has been on the org for like 3 years, but I never announced it so it got no attention. I think it's my best video that I finished and uploaded. I had dozens I never finished or beta'd / released somewhere else.

[Mod #4423: Moved to Opinion Exchange forum, since this is not a newly created AMV. AMV Announcements forum is for newly or recently (for example when you don't want to release because of convention participation) created AMVs only.]

Not a very memorable AMV. It feels like random clips/scenes thrown on top of music. The locations of the cuts don't feel random exactly but they also don't feel synched to anything.

If it's action synch it should cut a lot faster and match the music more. Since it cuts slow and you'll stick with one clip/scene for a kind of long time, it looks like you're going somewhere with it but then it randomly changes focus.

Assuming this is not a joke, that should give you more time for synch. Use a program that lets you make markers. In Premiere or Final Cut you can set up a key to make a marker when you press it. Then you basically just play through the song pressing the key every beat and you end up with markers matching the music; all you have to do is stretch the clips to fill the markers and instant synch.

i don't usually mess with timecodes. i prefer raw with hardcuts

I'm not sure how that's related to what I said.

I'm inclined to agree that there's not too much memorable about this AMV. There's definitely a lack of movement that really hampers any kind of groove you were trying to establish. The last minute in particular is very boring. If you were trying for an action sync, follow Cyrix's advice.

i sync on tempo changes, always have. beat sync is too intrinsic and schizoid
