Surprised no one has responded. I thought this was a really good video. Nice and creepy. Good effects to add to the creep factor too. I wish I didn't watch this on my own in my room at 3 am XD
What did you mean by "If you want to be a part of this?" Is this a multi-editor project?

Well thanks for the comment. I meant apart as in the opinion exchange thing. I made it alone. The only reason I think no one isn't really responding may be that it is YouTube video or I'm not really known on the site. I don't know why otherwise, I just want feedback.

Yeah, I'm having the same issue with my video. No one is commenting on it either probably for the same reason ><

Could you perhaps have a look at it?

I think it is good for the most part but I'd want to write a review for it. Did you put in on the site? If not, can you and send me a link to it?

No, I don't have it on the site. I don't believe it's ready yet. What do you mean by "send a link?" Do you mean you want the actual file? You can't give me a review here? I don't mean to sound rude but I'm kind of confused now as to how this works

Well, I meant giving me the link to where you give opinions to that video on the site, It is like mine if you check, Yea I could probably do a review here but I thought it would be more better to write a full one there because if I made 2 different ones and they were generally the same I wouldn't be able to say much.
However, It's not like I can't, so I'll just write a full one here, I ask you then to reply to the review given and do an opinion on mine then.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Orig.--------Capture----Sound-----Action-----Lip----Effects----Effort-----Re-view----Overall
10-------------10---------10---------- 6----------6-------------------7------------6------------8

Good:
I gave you a 10 for the first 3 because I don't see Rocket Boy and that song being put into an AMV, and the capture and sound was in my opinion great.
I gave action a 6 because...well I don't think it was supposed to relay anything action like but there was a few moments up closer to the end where you showed fights, thought I still think the point wasn't supposed to be anything really action like, I gave it a 6.
I think you did put effort into just you said you didn't think it was ready so there if more for u to do, thus a 7.
I'd probably watch it again after a long while like I do with other AMVs, so I just did a 6 and gave an overall 8.
Bad:
Lip I gave 6 . The problem here is sometimes I can't really tell if you meant to show some or it just got in the way of what you meant to do. For example, from 0:44- 0:50, I can see it in the video itself how he is feeling that it isn't easy to be himself, though I don't know whether her is saying it too. If he is, then you should try to cut clips and place them right so it looks like he is saying those words. If not, then you can do your best to remove some of the lip movements( I can recommend ways to do so if needed). Again at 1:10-1:14, I assume this one is legit lip sync here, it just about fits in with the professor's lips, but not with Rocket Boy's(again, I could tell you how to do this). I skipped effects because there wasn't really any.
General:
In my opinion, I see how you could make this better. The song at the beginning is slow, and you should try to portray that in the scenes to. At 0:18- 0:22, you could try slow slow down the clips there. Same generally goes for the rest of the scenes up until 1:37, where the music picks up. Also giving those scenes some black and white would probably help how it feels for the people viewing it. Lastly, I noticed how when you changed to different scenes, you fade out and fade in to a new one, I think it is also good, but a bit fast. At the "I'm more then a bird scene, try starting the fade out when he starts saying bird or after that when you first hear the guitar getting strummed. The fade in you would also make a bit slower, but at your discretion. At 1:57 the same words repeat, there you could try only making them slower that time. when the sound picks up though I am fine with those parts, you did them great. At 3:11, when Rocket Boy is sitting down, You faded in when he said it's not easy, just as he started to say something, but then a little bit after he sated saying to be, and lastly on point when he said me.I think you should start the fade in on when he says "to be" right when he starts saying it like the rest, it'll look more pattern like and better. There is a few last things that I have with some individual parts but i won't state unless you want me to.
Though I did recommend a bunch of things, you don't have to, remember it is your AMV not mine. However, at least try what I recommended for the bird scene(black and white, longer fade out, slower scene) and if it doesn't look better to you then forget about it. Then again, I don't know what program you use so I don't know if what I say is really possible for you to do.

Restating, I do like this AMV, and I want you to finish it, when you do go ahead and show me it, I want to see it. Until then take what I said into consideration and do what I said before I wrote this opinion please!

I understand. I don't feel it's ready to be up officially on this site yet. Thanks for the input. You're not the first person to tell me you were thrown off by the lip movement. My intention wasn't lip sync but I can see how one would assume it so I'm working on changing that. I'm also redoing the beginning a bit. Out of curiosity, how do you do a good lip sync?
I'm struggling with the line "I'm only a man in a funny red sheet digging for Kryptonite on this one way street." I think I understand the song's meaning but I don't know the best way to portray it here. Did my choice of clips there seem cheesy to you? In retrospect, it does to me.
BTW, his name is Astro Boy (Or Atom in Japan) Not Rocket Boy so I was a little confused by your review at first but I can see how one would think that's his name.
Thanks again for the input. Once I feel this is ready, I will put it up on a-m-v.org officially.
On another note, I had no idea I could put up a link to a youtube video on the actual a-m-v.org database. Maybe I'll do that BTW, I added my opinion and review to your video :)

Well, for my sake I'll speak as if you are using Sony Vegas Pro(because I still don't know what you use). Lets assume that Astro Boy was standing, head not moving only lips talking, and you wanted to match it of with a song or saying(I dunno, maybe "Hello you chicken."). you take frame pictures of every different mouth movement including the closed mouth and just name them all just so you have them at disposal. You have a mouth so the next step would be to make their mouths look like they're saying the words, so if we were going to say hi we would start with a closed mouth, slightly open mouth and then a open mouth and close it. I would assume it is your choice whether you would go strait from open mouth to slightly closed mouth and to closed or move strait from open mouth to closed mouth, it's whatever looks natural. Japanese Anime though I think wouldn't use even any more then 5 basic mouth movements(I think even less) to make a character look like their talking, so it shouldn't be difficult otherwise. Keep in mind, I have never done mouth sync but that should be the way you do it. Check this video by Gene Starwind 21122 where he used lip Sync in one part using frames. He'll probably say the same think but you can ask him again on how to do it.

Now for that other part...well I actually can't come up with what that part means s I can' really help you pin-point what would and wouldn't work. However, Maybe some may find what you did there corny, but I didn't. When I see it I though that that movie just had everything to fit with the song, red sheet, red boots, both fly, have the bird and the train. Though if you can tell me what you think it means I'll see if I can think of anything but I haven't watched the movie but maybe I can do something.

That sounds plausible. Thanks. Don't think it's needed for this video but it could work for others.

You don't think any of it was cheesy or too literal? I'm starting to feel like it is and not narrative enough. But then, I want to send this to an AMV contest at a convention and that has me very nervous
