[WIP] Roses - scenes and cohesion, 1:1 opportunity
Hey everyone,
Been working on this gem for a few weeks now, wanted to see if my scene selection was good and if anything looked clunky. Sometimes I miss things or simply don't know that something looks bad XD
Please let me know what you think, longer responses (200+ words) that go into concept as well as scene selection/technical errors I will return with an opinion on a video of your choice, or a similar response to one of your WIPs!
Here is the youtube link, if you want a direct download (it's about a 60mb xvid avi) just let me know and I can toss one up

Thanks in advance!

I'll go take a look in a few.
Check this out for me
Edit: Okay I watched it, I like what you have but my only concern is your fades are WAAAAAAY too long in the beginning and towards the end, don't make them so long and you'll have a nice solid video on your hands

Thanks! I'll toy around with them :3
Do you want me to leave an opinion on it or reply here? I said 200+ word responses for the full 1:1 but I'm 110% willing to leave shorter opinions for any response XD

I don't really think the very first few fades have to be shortened but I think the one right between 0:29 and 0:30 at the rift should be replaced with something more lively, to better fit the song, ya know? The timing is good but it feels a little awkward at 0:47, just a bit. I'm sure you'll go over the whole thing and tweak all those little timings though. Its cool how you matched some stuff to the lyrics too. Just make another minute or two of that and you got a nice AMV
you can do an OP on this for me that'd be kewl
Hey I just saw that little ad you threw up about help with your channel art. I'm not really a pro or anything but I'm willing to help if you're still looking for some. Doing projects like that is fun

I really need to refine the concept of it. So I really appreciate any ops I get on it. I couldn't do yours last night but I'm doing it second I get home tonight! Promise!

So first, I watched Hellsing Ultimate, so I don't remember Integra's eyes being red, but I think that is what you were going for.
First, I think that was nice, because I thought it was real, I actually don't recognize some of the scenes, maybe I fell asleep through them...
Anyhow, first, generally speaking, I liked it, with the little I've seen I see work put into many of the parts done here, so good stuff.
Going through it, with the beginning of the scenery, I think the slow momentum is good, I wouldn't really change it, though I think the 2 scenes may be a bit randomized, because it doesn't really add much when the word starts, because while you set the tone with the slow fade of the 2 clips the real AMV starts with the words. Personally, I would've used 4 different scenes spread out through each one scene their for a total of 8, for the the piano in the background tells me to change scenes around every half beat, or something close.
When the words start and you have Integra in those 2 scenes I also think that is good to, it's how my timeline would pace their too if I was making it, though again it is arguable if I would use 4 scenes for that instead of 2. In the first scene their when the clip is traveling up Integra I think you may to attempt some kind of film effect. That part has a background sound of static and you would match it with some kind of effect. Same goes for the second one. Also what I learned is that a normal pan isn't as impactful as one with a weak shake, I'm still working on those myself too, but you should try then there, in general they help anywhere.
After you have a scene that travels down a path, I think you should hit the beats their with weak flashes, strong enough to notice but weak enough to not blind people.
Really after that I don't really see much wrong with the transitions you use for scenes, only again with any still clip you should add a subtle shake of some kind, on a plain scene or after a fast pan.
I also thought the ending their was cool, the fire and everything with Integra, I'm still trying to think whether it was real or masked, either way it was well imputed.
With the actual AMV, I think you're trying to tell a story between Integra and Seras, because no Alucard whatsoever. I like it, though I don't really know where it's going yet, I think it has potential.
In general, I really do like the AMV, I wouldn't really have any problems with it the way it is now but the things I mentioned would be the only things I'd do that I think could improve it.
Please look at my AMV(These are the kind of shakes that I mean btw) :
