Risk the Resk: Free Optinons

Post by Resk » Sat May 14, 2005 2:56 pm

Well, I decided that since I have so much free time on my hands lately, I'm opening up my services for free opinions. However, I do have some specifics that I want to stress.

1. I'm not asking for opinions in return. If you want to give me one in return, that's fine, but PLEASE read my profile before you do. I have some notes on my videos in there that I would appreciate you read, before choosing one of my videos to download and opinion. Also, make sure to read the video descriptions. Again, giving an opinion in return is completely optional. However, keep in mind that if this thread lasts, I may decide to give specific videos that I'd like you to opinionate, if you want to give one. But, this thread will remain free for it's duration, even if that time arrives.

2. I generally give lengthy reviews, however, I want to stress what kind of reviews they are. They're based around advice, rather than good or bad. This means, that regardless of how good or bad a video is, I will always give advice as to how to improve, or on what to change in future videos. I ask that, if you ask for an opinion, to please respect my advice. That's all it is; just advice from my personal experience as an editor. Please don't get angry with it if you don't like what I say. And I can tell you now, no video will have nothing wrong with it. I will always find something to base my suggestions on ;)

3. Regarding scores, I have to tell you that I'm a hard marker. I always have been. Rarely do I give scores above a 7 (the individual scores, not overall score averages). It takes a lot to impress me, however, I will mark your work fairly. Now, if this means getting an average of scores of 6 instead of 9, then that's what it will be. I'm telling you in advance, because I don't want to see people upset with the scores. If you're looking for quick, high marked opinions, this thread isn't for you.

4. Regarding footage, I'm open to pretty much anything, however I ask in advance for no videos involving hentai/yaoi, or excessive gross violence. Also, videos that incorperate the following footage will recieve harder marking, however will also recieve more complete reviews:

- Final Fantasy (any)
- Shadow Hearts/Koudelka (any)
- Chrono Trigger/Cross
- Parasite Eve
- Legend of Dragoon
- Witch Hunter Robin
- .hack (games, or Sign)

Well, that's about it. I have a feeling this thread will be for...... a particular few editors lol, but I'll try my best to get your reviews back to you as soon as I am able. However, I should also mention, that I'll also be using this thread to scan videos that I might want to talk about in my weekly column in the a-m-v.org newsletter. More information on that can be found when the first issue of the newsletter is posted on the org.

Well I'm sure you'll find much wrong with mine. Knock yourself out: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=71700

I like honest opinions (however bad) so i assure you i will fully appreciate any advice you have. Also, it's my first video and it's Final Fantasy VIII so I'm obviously preparing myself for the worst, but hey, it's necessary in order to learn right? I mean, I can't be this bad forever!

Well, this looks exactly like the kind of reviews I'd be looking for, as I'm still quite unexperienced and know that I can and must do with advice on how to improve. I'd be really glad if you could op this one (I only have two uploaded at the moment, this is my most recent one).

I'll try to reciprocate, although I probably won't do so tonight (I'm not great at reviewing when I'm tired *sigh*).

Well Resk, I think I'll give it a shot (might as well, I got nothing else to do here 'cept work on my article :o )

I guess you could do either this one: (highest ops, not highest stars :? )
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=65836

or this one: (highest star rating, fewer ops)

Or you could do both if you want :D

I think you'll see some definate improvement from my Dark Side II vid, and I look forward to the comments and criticism :)

(I just looked at the Dark Side op you left me, lol, ouch, I think I'm gonna get a hit for originality  )
