First AMV, need advice and opinions ^^

Post by Moonwolf87 » Sun Aug 21, 2005 1:55 am

Well I'm new to AMVs and I finally got my first one done. I wish I could have done it to a more mellow song tho, I really liked the lyrical content, but I didn't want it to be so upbeat since I wanted to keep the action scenes to a minimum. But this was all I had on my comp...and well I was itching to edit something after watching several videos up here. I got interested in it about 3 years ago when I was looking at the videos Aluminum Studios made, but I didn't have the computer for it at that time. But now that I do, I'd like some opinions and such so I can improve. I don't care what you say, as long as you don't say anything rude heh. Keep in mind I edited this video in... 7 maybe 8 hours, took me about 3 just to get all the footage and it still isn't in the quality I'd like it to be in. I didn't read the dvd ripping guide on this site first >_< Also I didn't use really any effects unless you count the fades, so just in advance know that. I'm going to take alot of time on my next one, I just really needed the practice and to expose it. Okay! Here is the link ^^;

I really enjoyed your review, It was very helpful, I'm downloading your video now, Angst...sounds more appealing to me ^^ but anyway, I'd like to speak to you over messenger or something. You mentioned the quality, which I noticed as well. I personally want to remake that video, keeping the key parts but adding in effects that link them together, something more creative. Also... It wasn't meant to be an Action Video ^^; thats just the song that I had that I really thought fit Kenshin. Thats why during some of the upbeat parts it showed kenshin without any fighting... I tried my best to add in some non fighting parts. But when I did add them in. I tried to do it as if things in his past, he was fighting them. I'm far more Interested in the conflict within him and kaoru/tomoe than the fight scenes...those are nice too but... I enjoy things with deep meanings/thoughts. If you could help me out with capturing in good quality and such and encoding as well as programs to use... I'd be very thankful. I really like the Kenshin series...and I want to re-make that video and pour all my heart and soul into it this time. ^^; Anyway, please look into contacting me. I'd really enjoy your help. Your op will be up as soon as my nap ends >< I want to give an opinion when I'm not about to pass out. *bows* I thank you again.

Oh! Before I forget! Thank you for noticing the scene with the scar and the teardrop... that was my favorite scene, in fact I spent like 45 minutes trying to rearrange things in the video to get it to work right ^^ I thought it really hit the spot.

I don't know if I can be much help in the way of programs. This is because I believe you are on a Windows based computer, while I am on a Mac. :( But, you will get better at the encoding part of it. My first vid, Angst didn't have the best encoding, but my thrid one Deep Like, people have been saying it's like watching the DVD. It was a process of trial and error .... of course it took me 2+ days just to get the encoding right on Deep Like. But, if you want to chat my AIM should be in my profile .. if not it is JudgeHolden1

Talk to you later,

Awesome, Kenshin. :D Sure I'll look at it...and if you could take a look at my first-ever AMV, that would be awesome, too.
