Rendering in Vegas 7.0b

Post by KyoMatsu » Mon Nov 20, 2006 7:46 pm

When i render my music video's the quality doesnt seem to be as good as it can be, i got the quality jacked up to 4mbps, but it still seems to lack... quality, perhaps my source video files are iffy, but hypathetically speaking lets say theyre not. What could be the issue?

Here's my current rendering settings.

Frame Size: NTSC Square pixel (640x480)
Frame Rate: 29.970(NTSC)
Field order: None(Progressive scan)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000000
Video Format: Divx 5.2.1 Codec
Interleave every (seconds): 0.250
Create an opendml (AVI Version 2.0) compatible files.

don't encode your video with vegas (or any editing program for that matter)
and using divx will often leave you wishing for something else.

follow this and then do your final encoding per these instructions
the guide goes over vegas 4.x/5.x but at the very least, the ideas will stay the same for 7.x (that is, export with a lossless codec or uncompressed)

just remember, you can only get out what you put in (which means if your source looks bad so will your final product)

So in conclusion, you think its best to render unencoded... then later encode your project with a better program like Virtualdubmod?

pretty much
you are able to control more aspects of the encoding process with virtualdub(/mod) than you can in vegas/many other editing programs...which often leads to better quality
