If you find one that works and doesn't reduce video quality at all or screw up your project files, let us know - it'll be the new recommended way to do things.

I'm really not a computer wiz and I've never heard of AutoGK, so for me I use Axara video converter. It's extremely easy to use and it only costs $30. It can change vids to AVI, WMV, FLV, SWF, MPEG, MOV, RM, and SWF ( for outputting on "your own personal computer") It can also convert vids for things like ipod, DVD player, portable media player, ect.. And it tells you what kind of files you can use for specific devices (someone like me wouldn't just know otherwise).DaRealChrono wrote: There isn't just a program like AutoGK (which encodes .VOB files into .avi xvid/divx files at the size you want) that I can use to convert, say MPEG-2 for example? I don't mind going through all of the AviSynth/VDM stuff, but is there an easier way?
You can also use it to make screen shots and to cut out parts of videos if you want to do something like make or convert just a part of a vid. I've only used it to convert to either AVI or WMV. When converting to AVI I haven't noticed any quality loss, but there is some when converting to WMV, so that may be a downside with some formats. But for a person like me who just doesn't know much about these things I find it extremely useful. Like I said, it's incredibly user friendly. All you have to do is drag and drop your video, pick the format, and press convert.
There are some things that look more complicated like aspect ratio and crop scale, but I've never used these so I'm not exactly sure what they're capable of doing, sorry. Hope this can help though
