SD footage.... 1280 resolution, and flash.

Post by Sayoria » Thu Feb 16, 2012 1:42 am

I am curious how to do this here.

My issue is, I am using SD footage for an AMV, and have a few parts where flashes will be in effect, but the issue is, since it is SD, and it will be played to 1280x720, it of course has the black bars on the side, but the flash carries over and flashes over the black bars as well. I don't want that. I want the flash to happen solely on the footage itself. How would one make this happen?

The black bars are a fault by itself (unless it's for MEP or collab). Get rid of them ;x

That's all that's in there!

I'd love to, but as far as I know, I have a choice at 4:3. Keep it as is with black bars, or zoom in and make it ugly. =/

Also suppose I should have mentioned, that the contest this is going to, has a mandatory 1280x720 aspect ratio going on, so yeah.

"mandatory 1280x720 aspect ratio"

*facepalm*

Well, if you don't want to edit with the zoom then the thing you can do is edit in 4:3, render the video and THEN add the borders, obviously ;x

Blah.... I might as well just cut out the flashes and leave those spots bland then..... sounds like too much just to cut the flashing over the black areas. I was just hoping there was a simple way in the "pan/crop" area, or in the rendering options to keep the flash in the 4:3 area or out of the borders....but if I have to put borders on in the end, then bleh....forget it.

And yeah.....zooming in will kill the quality and make character heads half-off the screen. I just don't want that. Thanks anyways.

There's nothing as simple as that, unfortunately. The flash is just how you do it, so unless you crop it yourself, it's over the whole screen :3

Hmm, in the end, that wasn't so bad. I got it going, thank you.
