video effects wont show in preview window(Vegas)

Anytime I try to add an effect to a clip it wont show that I changed anything in the preview window. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

well, first verify that you actually DID add the effect by right clicking the clip on the timeline and hitting "event fx".

Also, make sure your cursor is actually over the frame with the added effect, and make sure that the effect would actually be visible (some of the effects are hard to notice because they're subtle.)

Along the top edge of the preview window there is a square icon that looks half-gray, half-white with a split circle inside it. Make sure it is not active (click it).

Or you could be like me and not have more than the minimum system requirement to run Vegas.... Try rendering a part Tools > Preview in Player and check that out. It's a little messy for timing issues, but it works well enough. Even if that's not the problem, try giving this a shot. Usually that means that you didn't actually add the effect (I've done that before lol). Hope that helps!
